A cryptic Netflix billboard has fans speculating about Stranger Things season 4's release. Netflix's hit paranormal series, created by the Duffer Brothers, premiered on the streaming service in 2016 and delivered new seasons consistently until the coronavirus pandemic hit in 2020. This caused numerous production delays to season 4, which has resulted in an agonizing wait for fans eagerly searching for answers to season 3's biggest mysteries, including a post-credits scene set in Kamchatka which references an unseen American.

Just as fans expected, the first official footage from Stranger Things season 4 revealed that Jim Hopper (David Harbour) was still alive and being held captive in a Russian prison camp after his apparent death at the end of season 3. Subsequent marketing materials caught up with Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo), Steve (Joe Keery), Max (Sadie Sink), Robin (Maya Hawke), Nancy (Natalie Dyer), and Lucas (Caleb McLaughlin) breaking into the haunted Creel House in Hawkins. Having relocated to the West Coast with Will (Noah Schnapp), Jonathan (Charlie Heaton), and Joyce Byers (Winona Ryder), Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) will once again find herself held in captivity by Dr. Brenner (Matthew Modine).

Now, an ominous Netflix billboard has fans speculating about the arrival of Stranger Things season 4. In upside-down lettering, the billboard reads "Every Ending Has A Beginning." The billboard is, of course, a reference to the show's alternate dimension known as the Upside Down. If that wasn't clear enough, the official Stranger Things Twitter account responded to the billboard with an upside-down smiley face emoji. Check out a photo of the billboard below:

The billboard's message is in line with what the Stranger Things cast and crew have said about season 4's story. The upcoming season is expected to introduce storylines that will act as the setup for the show's final arcs, rather than season 4 being the end itself. A lot of time has passed in both the real and Stranger Things worlds since the last season ended, and the show's younger cast has noticeably grown up in the interim. However, season 4 will feature a time jump to the summer of 1986, which will explain their characters' rapid aging. With the narrative seemingly split between Hawkins, California, and Russia, the series appears to be planting the seeds for its eventual conclusion.

What the billboard means regarding season 4's arrival is a little more unclear. Considering Harbour's recent update that season 4 is "coming soon," the billboard is most likely an indication that Netflix is preparing to announce an official release date and begin to ramp up its marketing campaign in anticipation of a release in mid-2022. Only time will tell what exactly the future holds for Stranger Things season 4.
