Warning! SPOILERS ahead for Stranger Things season 4 part 2!

Stranger Things star, David Harbour recently revealed that he used an Arnold Schwarzenegger movie prop in the Netflix show's season 4 finale. Following a three-year absence, the popular science-fiction fantasy horror series returned with record-breaking viewership. Stranger Things season 4 has become the most-watched television show on any streaming service this year, overtaking Disney+'s Obi-Wan Kenobi record viewership.

Set six months after the Battle of Starcourt, Stranger Things season 4 finds Hopper (Harbour) imprisoned in a Soviet labor camp. With the aid of Joyce Byers (Winona Ryder) and eccentric conspiracy theorist Murray Bauman (Brett Gelman), Hopper is freed but is then forced to do battle with a demogorgon. Instead of fleeing, he stands and fights the creature, trapping it in the prison's courtyard for a life-or-death confrontation. Hopper uses a sword to maim the demon and kills it with a final decapitating blow.

While speaking with GQ, Harbour revealed that the sword Hopper is using in Stranger Things season 4 finale is a famous Arnold Schwarzenegger movie prop. After Joyce and Hopper trap the demogorgon in the courtyard, the police chief uses a sword left by a deceased inmate to kill the beast. Harbour revealed that the sword he uses is actually the sword Schwarzenegger uses in the film Conan the Barbarian. Read what the actor said below.

"I don’t know if you saw this, but that sword I pick up — it’s the actual prop sword they used in Conan the Barbarian. It’s the sword that Schwarzenegger swings in the movie."

Schwarzenegger starred as the titular character in the film, Conan the Barbarian, a fantasy-adventure of revenge. After being pursued by a pack of wolves, Conan stumbles into a hidden tomb of an ancient king where he finds the imposing sword. Including the iconic prop into such a crucial moment is yet another powerful homage by the Duffer Brothers to 1980s pop culture in Stranger Things.

Hopper's fight against the demogorgon is inter-cut with Nancy Wheeler (Natalia Dyer), Robin Buckley (Maya Hawke), and Steve Harrington's (Joe Keery) confrontation with Vecna as well as Eddie Munson's (Joseph Quinn) fight with the bat-like demons. The moment proved to be the final stroke against Vecna and the threat of the Upside Down in Stranger Things season 4 as the heroes seemingly succeeded in the fight, but at a heavy cost. Although it is unknown how exactly Hopper, Joyce, and Murray returned to the United States, perhaps it is possible that Harbour will once again yield the Conan sword when Stranger Things returns for season 5.
