Stranger Things season 4 has finally wrapped filming, according to actor Noah Schnapp. Schnapp plays Will Byers on the Netflix original show, who is kidnapped by the Demogorgon in season 1 and later becomes possessed by the Mind Flayer. After defeating the Mind Flayer, season 3 ends with Will and his family moving out of Hawkins, Indiana, prompting a touching moment as Will says goodbye to his friends. Since the third season premiered in July of 2019, fans have been eagerly waiting for the next chapter in the series.

Like many shows and movies in the current era, Stranger Things season 4 has seen setbacks due to the coronavirus pandemic. Originally announced in September of 2019, along with a minute-long YouTube teaser, filming on Stranger Things season 4 officially began in February of 2020. However, two weeks later, Netflix ordered all productions, including Stranger Things, to halt filming due to the emerging pandemic. After several more delays, filming for Stranger Things season 4 resumed on September 28, 2020. In June of 2021, David Harbour, who portrays Chief Jim Hopper in the series, confirmed that filming was set to wrap in August of this year, which after a recent update from Schnapp that appears to be true.

In that same clip, Schnapp also previews things to come when he mentions, “they’re putting together another teaser, then.” Which means another teaser for Stranger Things season 4 should be on its way. This wouldn’t be the first teaser Netflix has released for the beloved series, with the most recent Stranger Things trailer dropping back in August of 2021. Netflix has also recently previewed set photos from the series that teased a new team-up of Steve Harrington (Joe Keery), Dustin Henderson (Gaten Matarazzo), Robin Buckley (Maya Hawke), Max Mayfield (Sadie Sink), and Nancy Wheeler (Natalia Dyer). It appears that fans won’t have to wait longer for another update from the show.

While the Covid-19 pandemic is mostly to blame for the delays in filming, it is not the only reason for the lengthy production schedule. Executive producer, Shawn Levy, also revealed that the scope of Stranger Things season 4 has made it particularly difficult to film, owing to the amount of locations and ambitious nature of the season. So, while fans eagerly wait for the next installment, which currently has no definite release date, they should keep in mind that the amount of delays will most likely result in a better finished product.
