A fan poster for Stranger Things season 4 highlights the show's new California setting. Netflix's hit sci-fi series famously started out in the fictional town of Hawkins, Indiana, though the fourth season will feature a time jump to the summer of 1986 and be split between the small midwest town and the Golden State. The season 3 finale ended with the show's friend group split up as Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) moves out of Hawkins with Will (Noah Schnapp), Jonathan (Charlie Heaton), and Joyce Byers (Winona Ryder) after Hopper's (David Harbour) apparent death.

Sadly, Eleven's love interest, Mike (Finn Wolfhard), remained behind in Hawkins with the rest of the gang. One of the first trailers for Stranger Things season 4 showed Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo), Steve (Joe Keery), Max (Sadie Sink), Robin (Maya Hawke), Nancy (Natalie Dyer), and Lucas (Caleb McLaughlin) going full Ghostbusters by breaking into the haunted Creel House to investigate a mysterious grandfather clock, which is expected to be a season-long story arc. On the West coast, Eleven will once again find herself in captivity and reunited with Dr. Brenner (Matthew Modine), as revealed by an earlier teaser.

Now, a fan-made poster for Stranger Things season 4 highlights the show's new California setting. The poster uses the aerial view of Eleven's new neighborhood as seen in the trailer, which is enclosed in the number 4, with much of the main cast featured behind it along with an appropriate tagline, "We're not in Hawkins anymore." The show's location change was confirmed by the trailer titled "Welcome to California," which was set to the song "A Place in California" by Jeremiah Burnham. The location change has been teased heavily in the official marketing campaign to highlight the show's refreshing change of scenery, as well as to demonstrate the drastic difference between teenage life in California and a small town in Indiana during the 1980s. However, this won't be the only major location change in the upcoming season.

As revealed in another past teaser, season 4 will pick up with Hopper in a Russian labor camp. With these three settings set to play prominent roles in the upcoming season, it does seem like season 4 will be the show's biggest yet, as teased by executive producer Shawn Levy. Stranger Things season 4 does not yet have a release date on Netflix, though it will likely drop sometime in the middle of this year.
