Eleven's powers fail her when she tries going up against some unsuspecting teenagers in a new clip from Stranger Things season 4. Season 1 of the Duffer Brothers’ series followed the disappearance of Will Byers (Noah Schnapp). The subsequent search drew the inhabitants of Hawkins, Indiana into an alternate dimension known as the Upside Down as they uncovered a mystery involving secret experiments—which were tied to the introduction of telekinetic teenager Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown). In addition to Will and Eleven, the growing cast of Stranger Things includes Mike (Wolfhard), Lucas (Caleb McLaughlin), Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo), Erica (Priah Ferguson), Max (Sadie Sink), Nancy (Natalia Dyer), Jonathan (Charlie Heaton), Steve (Joe Keery), Robin (Maya Hawke), Jim Hopper (David Harbour), and Joyce Byers (Winona Ryder).

Eleven’s powers continued to grow as she combated Demogorgons and the Mind Flayer leading up to season 3’s finale. Eleven lost her powers following the battle with the Minder Flayer in the Starcourt Mall. On top of that, Max lost her brother Billy Hargrove (Dacre Montgomery) and Hopper was seemingly caught in an explosion that closed the Upside Down’s latest gate. Stranger Things season 3 ended with Eleven and the Byers deciding to leave Hawkins and move to sunny California. It’s been three years since that finale dropped on Netflix and now, a new clip gives insight into Will and Eleven's life attending Lenora Hills High School.

Millie Bobby Brown recently appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to promote Stranger Things season 4. After discussing how the season will explore more of her character’s origin, Fallon shared an exclusive clip of Eleven being bullied by some other students at her new school. Stranger Things season 4 will pick up six months after the events of season 3, with Eleven, Will, and Jonathan attending their new high school. In previous seasons, Eleven served as her friends’ protector/defender and it’s interesting to see how she reacts to demoralizing situations without her powers. In the above clip, she essentially tries to blow up Angela as Will looks on in horror. That said, viewers will undoubtedly be excited to see Eleven and Will have more interactions in season 4. As outcasts who have been traumatized and/or tortured by the Upside Down, the pair arguably have more in common than anyone else in the series. Of course, trailers show Dr. Owens (Paul Reiser) interrupting any bonding experiences when he shows up to tell Eleven about a pending supernatural war.

Stranger Things’ penultimate season is poised to be the series’ most mature yet, and Brown has said it will find Eleven in her darkest state. As it introduces new characters, locations, and villains in Robert Englund’s (Nightmare on Elm Street) Victor Creel and the Upside Down’s Vecna, Eleven will inevitably get her powers back in some capacity. As previously mentioned, the season will flesh out Eleven's past in Hawkins National Laboratory and the experiments conducted on her by Dr. Martin Brenner (Matthew Modine). Outside of Eleven’s storyline, her surrogate father, Hopper, has been revealed to be alive and in Russian captivity. The first five episodes of Stranger Things 4 will release on May 27th, with the final four dropping on July 1st.
