A Stranger Things fan takes to social media to show off a sculpture depicting the gruesome death of newly-introduced character Chrissy Cunningham. The long-awaited Stranger Things season 4 was released on Netflix in two parts on May 27 and July 1 to critical and audience acclaim. There was much praise for the short-lived run of Hawkins High School cheerleader Chrissy, played by Grace Van Dien, whose memorable but heartbreaking death has resonated with audiences in a major way. Stranger Things creators Matt and Ross Duffer even admitted they had some regrets about killing Chrissy after watching Van Dien's performance.

Stranger Things season 4 saw the returns of several main cast members who have been with the show since it premiered in 2016. Among the new additions to the cast were Van Dien as Chrissy and Joseph Quinn as the D&D-loving and guitar-playing Eddie Munson. The first season 4 episode, entitled "The Hellfire Club," saw the unfortunate demise of Chrissy at the hands of the monstrous new Upside Down villain Vecna, played by Jamie Campbell Bower. While Eddie watches on, Chrissy is quite literally broken to death, with her bones snapping and her eyes being pushed in. This scene somehow led to one fan creating a sculpture of her deformed body.

On TikTok, user fauxshmoe uploaded a video showing the process of creating the deceased Chrissy. The video is a mere 33 seconds long and reveals the sculpting and painting of the figurine. Then there is the trimming of the hair and positioning the body in the way depicted on the show. The video also features the hit '80s song "Running Up That Hill" by Kate Bush, which was heavily featured throughout Stranger Things season 4 and has since enjoyed a resurgence of popularity.

The work by fauxshmoe received plenty of praise from fellow TikTok users, including Netflix's official account commenting with a "shocked face" emoji. This has been just one example of Stranger Things' fan appreciation since season 4 started streaming. Eddie and Chrissy have both become fan favorites and were shipped heavily due to their strong chemistry together before the latter's death. Next to Van Dien's performance being praised, her death in particular stood out due to its barbaric nature. Clearly, it has become memorable enough to depict through a sculpture as well.

Chrissy could've easily been a typical two-dimensional cheerleader, or maybe even a bully like some characters on Stranger Things are. Instead, Van Dien brought such charisma and nuance to her performance that it made her unforgettable. Chrissy was someone with a lot of heart and was able to find a brief but notable connection with unlikely hero Eddie. While this latest fan work depicts her end, it just goes to show that her legacy lives on with Stranger Things fans. She may not ever return, but she certainly won't be forgotten.
