A fan created a hilarious TikTok video comparing the Stranger Things season 4 characters to classic vines. Stranger Things season 4 premiered on Netflix on May 27, 2022. After a nearly three-year hiatus after season 3, season 4 certainly drew in a large audience. Meanwhile, pandemic delays gave the Duffer brothers a chance to rethink season 4 and to make it bigger and give it a longer runtime than any other season. The season introduced many new characters, including fan favorite Eddie (Joseph Quinn) and the chilling new villain, Vecna (Jamie Campbell Bower).

Stranger Things season 4 leaned more into the horror genre and was quite darker than prior seasons. Most of this was due to Vecna's gruesome curse that claimed the lives of numerous Hawkins residents, as well as the deep dive into Eleven's (Millie Bobby Brown) troubled past and what happens when Dr. Brenner's (Matthew Modine) experiments go wrong. However, despite the heavy content, viewers still always find plenty of funny and relatable Stranger Things storylines to latch onto. For example, Steve Harrington (Joe Keery) being the babysitter and "mom" of the group or Mike Wheeler's (Finn Wolfhard) parents' painfully awkward relationship.

Now, one fan, nolanpar1, is compiling all of the funniest or most awkward truths of Stranger Things and comparing them to classic Vines. The TikTok video sees Hopper's (David Harbour) questionable parenting, Eleven and Mike's relationship, Mike's parents' relationship, and Vecna's cynical outlook all expressed as classic Vines. The outcome is hilarious and, strangely, very on-point for representing the various aspects of Stranger Things. Also, of course, yet another remix of the "Chrissy Wake Up" song serves as the opening of the video. Click the link below to watch the video:

As commenters on the TikTok noted, the video was hilariously accurate. It's also pretty unique in that it brought Vine back into the mix, despite the service being discontinued in 2019. Many see TikTok as the successor of Vine, but this fan found a unique way to combine the past and the present with a hilarious new take on Stranger Things. What's particularly unique about the video is that it wasn't necessarily poking fun at Stranger Things. It was really more capitalizing on how well viewers have come to know each character and their story arcs, to the point that they can instantly connect a few seconds-long classic Vine to the correct character and see exactly what the creator was getting at.

Ultimately, it is also interesting to see viewers finding unique ways to have fun with the shows they enjoy. Whether it's sorting the characters of shows into Hogwarts Houses, determining each character's horoscope, or finding which classic Vine each character is, they are finding ways to enjoy the characters outside of the limits of the show. In many ways, it speaks to the popularity of Stranger Things that fans can become so invested in characters and can reimagine them through different mediums. While displaying Stranger Things characters as classic Vines is hilarious and oddly accurate, it is also a strong reminder of how important the show's characters are to fans, to the point that they can clearly see them represented in a Vine.
