Billy's got a hot summer job in a new video from Stranger Things season 3. Billy (Dacre Montgomery) and his younger stepsister Max (Sadie Sink) were both introduced in Stranger Things' second season, and went on to become two of the season's best-received (not to mention, most memorable) aspects. Possibly as a direct result, the pair have been upgraded to full-time leading status for Stranger Thing season 3, which Netflix has scheduled to arrive in July. And in keeping with the season's summertime backdrop, the siblings will be finding ways to keep busy in the sun while they're off from school.
In Billy's case, that means working as as lifeguard at Hawkins Community Pool. The Stranger Things season 3 trailer and first-look images offered a glimpse of Billy at his new job, which seems to primarily involve him strutting around in his swimsuit for the viewing pleasure of those around him. That includes Cara Buono as Karen Wheeler (whom, you may recall, had a... noteworthy encounter with Billy in season 2), as seen in a newly-released extended clip from the season.
Netflix dropped the video (titled "Summer in Hawkins") to YouTube today, ahead of Stranger Things season 3's release in about a month and a half. You can check it out in the space below, along with a newly-unveiled poster that gives Billy the spotlight.
As seen here, Mrs. Wheeler isn't the only Hawkins local who not so secretly has feelings about Billy working as a lifeguard. The latter, for his part, seems as aggressive as ever in this clip, and is shown taking out his rage by yelling at a misbehaving swimmer, which is a step (well, half-step) in the right direction away from bullying Max and attacking other people like he did in season 2. Speaking of Max: the Stranger Things season 3 trailer included footage of her hanging out with Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) at the mall and spending time with their friends, so she's clearly living a happier life now than she was when she joined the show in season 2. No doubt, not having to worry about Bill is a part of that.
However, as largely absurd as this video is, rest assured: there's darkness to come in Stranger Things season 3 proper. In fact, Hawkins Community Pool appears to play a role in the larger mystery this season. The plot reportedly involves Heather (Francesca Reale) - the lifeguard shown trading shifts with Billy here - finding herself in danger, presumably in the season's third episode (which is titled "The Case of the Missing Lifeguard"). Similarly, there's a quick shot in the trailer that shows Billy in a shower room with what's obviously an Upside-Down related infection spreading across his arm. Whatever's going on, it appears Billy's going to have more to deal with than lustful pool moms and kids running around at his summer job.
Stranger Things season 3 begins streaming through Netflix this summer on July 4.
