When Netflix used a teaser trailer to announce that Stranger Things has been renewed for a second season earlier this summer, the streaming conglomerate effectively broke the Internet. The Netflix original series, which follows residents of a small Indiana town after an otherworldly monster steals several of its inhabitants, is a reverent homage to 1980s sci-fi that immediately garnered fan attention. Since its July premier, the eight-episode series has gone on to become one of Netflix's most highly-rated programs, so it's no surprise that the residents of Hawkins will be back for a nine-episode season next year.

Though we already know season 2 will begin filming in Atlanta from about October to April, thanks to Screen Crush, it seems that crew is eager to get a jump on things -- because a fan spotted production trailers going up outside a key set location.

Reddit user hollygorock took to r/StrangerThings to post pictures from outside the Hawkins National Laboratory set. You can check out their full photo gallery HERE.

We do want to clarify that this is all in the spirit of speculation, and we have received no confirmation that season 2 filming is under way. Though the building pictured is, in fact, the Emory University-owned Georgia Mental Health Institute where the series' Hawkins Lab scenes are filmed, we cannot confirm that these pictures were taken recently - or that they are related to Stranger Things, since other productions shoot at the same location.

Still, it's always fun to discuss fan theories, which is exactly what Redditors got down to once these posts went up. Some users used this bit of info to start in on theories as to where else the series will film (since we know season 2 will partially take place away from Hawkins), as well as to speculate on recent cast member social media activity. Fans are especially interested in the whereabouts of young star Millie Bobby Brown, since we still don't know what's up with her character Eleven, or whether we'll see her in season 2.

While we certainly hope that these photos mean "filming in October" now means "filming immediately on October 1st," we can make no promises to our fellow rabid fans. Still, with behind-the-scenes news about Stranger Things leaving us with as many questions as the fictional show itself, it's becoming part of the fun to look into news like this, and cross our fingers that we'll see more of Hawkins and the Upside Down ASAP.
