Stranger Things star Natalia Dyer wants Nancy Wheeler and Robin Buckley's fledgling friendship to continue. The popular science-fiction horror show returned after a three-year absence with record-breaking results. An immense amount of hype, coupled with near-universal critical praise, propelled Stranger Things to be the most-watched series on any streaming service this year. Season 4 finds the core group of teenagers from Hawkins, Indiana, once again battling forces from the malevolent parallel universe known as the Upside Down.

Six months after the Battle of Starcourt in season 3, Nancy (Dyer) finds herself as an editor of the Hawkins High School newspaper, The Weekly Streak, where she investigates the untimely death of Chrissy Cunningham (Grace Van Dien). During her investigation, she partners with Robin (Hawke) as they track down clues leading to the true identity of the terrifying being known as Vecna. It's during this time together the duo begins to form a sincere friendship.

In a recent interview with Collider, Dyer admitted that she wants to see Nancy and Robin's budding relationship continue. The actor explained that she was excited that she got to work with Hawke this season as their two characters were "very smart women" but wishes to explore more of that going forward in the fifth and final season. Read what Dyer had to say below.

"I think Nancy and Robin, it's a really fun dynamic, and they're so different, but they're both very smart women, we love that. We love to see it, we love to play it. We were both really excited about getting to do that this season. And I think it's been, I don't know, from what I've seen but like people seem to enjoy it as well, which is nice because I think it's a nice gratifying relationship dynamic."

Dyer appears to have loved spending time with Hawke while shooting season 4, but also understands that their new friendship has resonated with fans as well. The actor calls both Nancy and Robin intelligent characters that have a unique relationship where each bolsters the other in several ways. Robin specifically provided Nancy support on different levels, notably with emotional support as Nancy became conflicted about her long-distance relationship with Jonathan Byers (Charlie Heaton) while still harboring lingering and conflicted feelings for Steve Harrington (Joe Keery).

However, it appears that Robin fills a hole in Nancy's life that was created by Barb's (Shannon Purser) brutal death in season 1. Following her friend's demise, Nancy had not had any close friends that she could confide in emotionally other than the two love interests in her life, Steve and Jonathan. Robin allows Nancy to once again have that platonic friend away from romantic attachments. With the gang all back together in Hawkins following the massive gates ripping through town, Nancy and Robin will have an opportunity to strengthen their friendship when Stranger Things returns for season 5.
