Stranger Things may be about the monsters and mayhem terrorizing the small town of Hawkins, Indiana but at its core, it's about so much more -- including the friendships. Whether it's the friendships between the children or the adults, there are many deep, meaningful relationships built amongst the residents of this town. The chaos that encompasses their daily lives only serves to bring them all closer together.

There are many fan favorites on the show in terms of the friendships, but there are also some we have to see that we'd certainly like to. These are the 5 best friendships on Stranger Things, and 5 we'd like to see sooner than later.

Best: Dustin And Steve

Dustin and Steve Harrington's friendship was the breakout of season 2 of Stranger Things. In the first season, their storylines were entirely separate, but when it finally overlapped in the second season, we saw a beautiful friendship form practically overnight.

Steve became Dustin's sidekick and vice versa, which particularly came in handy in season 3 when the two, along with Erica and Robin, fought Russian soldiers -- literally. They have shared many hilarious moments together, but they also always have each other's backs and encourage one another to be their best selves.

Want To See: Mike and Hopper

We are aware that it is still very much up in the air on whether or not Jim Hopper is actually alive at this point on Stranger Things, but if he is the American in the Russian's cell, then this is a friendship we would love to see.

He and Mike had gotten off on the wrong foot once Mike began dating Eleven. Hopper was very protective of his adoptive daughter and Mike seemed to be rebellious against all of his rules. But if the two could finally get on the same page, it would be wonderful to see a friendship begin between them.

Best: Max And Eleven

When Eleven was being hidden from the outside world by Hopper in season 2, she had still managed to sneak out and spy on her friends, as well as Max -- the new kid in school. When she saw Max and Mike laughing, she definitely was jealous of the girl. But fast forward to the third season, and Eleven put that all behind them and started a great friendship with the spunky Max.

Max helped to bring out a fun and carefree side of Eleven that we had never seen before. Seeing the girls getting along so well was truly wonderful.

Want To See: Steve And Jonathan

These two young men in Nancy's life have certainly come a long way since their initial disdain for one another in the first season of Stranger Things. But now that we're going into season 4, we'd hope that Jonathan and Steve could get past all of their former drama over Nancy and maybe become actual friends.

Sure, they've fought alongside each other when the latest monster has infiltrated their town. But they haven't ever tried to be true friends aside from that. It would be good for them -- and Nancy -- to move on once and for all.

Best: Hopper and Joyce

By the end of the latest season, Joyce and Hopper were finally on the cusp of going from friends to so much more, before Hopper was presumed dead in the finale.

But aside from their budding romance, the two have always had a great friendship. Sometimes, they butt heads over ridiculous things, but overall they always are there for each other when they need it and have done anything and everything to help them through tough times. What more could you ask for in a friend, anyway?

Want To See: Erica And The Boys

Erica was a hilarious full-time addition to the third season of the show, while previously she had been scarcely used as Lucas' younger sister.

But now, she is an honorary member of the Scoops Troop and also known to be just as geeky as her older brother and his friends. With the boys gifting her all of their nerdy paraphernalia at the end of the season, it would be really interesting to see her become a part of their group. Sure, Lucas might be against it at first, but it could bring them closer together while giving her a great group of friends who understand her interests.

Best: Steve And Robin

When Robin was initially introduced as Steve's new co-worker, many believed she would also be his new love interest..including Dustin. But later on, we learned that it wasn't Steve who she was interested in. In fact, she's not interested in men at all.

It was wonderful to see LGBT inclusivity with this new character and even more wonderful to witness Steve be completely understanding and accepting of his new friend, especially with the time period. They are fun together and stick together through the emotional stuff, too, so we can't wait to see more of this new friendship play out next season.

Want To See: Joyce And Karen

Karen Wheeler is Mike and Nancy's mom while Joyce Byers is the mother of Will and Jonathan. With Mike and Will being best friends and Jonathan and Nancy dating, you'd think these two moms might interact more and even have a friendship of their own.

But we have yet to see anything other than the simplest of interactions between the two women. We would love to see this change in the series, especially so they could have a fellow woman in their lives to rely on.

Best: Mike And Will

Mike and Will are also best friends with Dustin and Lucas, but the truth of the matter is they are each other's best friend first and foremost. This was showcased even more so in season 2 when Mike helped Will remember everything he has to live for and why it's important for him to beat the monster inside of him.

Their bond and friendship has only strengthened with time and even when it is tested to its limits, their love for each other comes out on top. We couldn't adore their friendship any more than we already do.

Want To See: Nancy And Robin

Nancy Wheeler dated Steve prior to him becoming friends with Robin. So while Robin may be a loyal friend to Steve, both he and Nancy are on good enough terms that the two young women surely should try to become friends at some point, too.

Sure, Robin may have had some preconceived notions of Nancy and who she is as a person, but Nancy has shown that she is so much more than the preppy, popular good girl from season 1. The two might actually have more in common than they realize.
