After watching the action-packed, intense season 4 of Stranger Things, fans are curious about what is in store next for the captivating group of characters in season 5.

Whether it's the original group of friends or some of the great characters that appeared later on in the series, the show has many entertaining, complex main characters. There are many personality traits associated with these captivating characters, but some of them are more prominent than others. Each main character has a characteristic that shines through as their biggest strength.

Hopper - Good Heart

Eleven and Hopper reunite in Stranger Things season 4

At the beginning of the series, fans weren't sure if they liked Hopper's character. However, as the story progresses, viewers learned Hopper has a lot of heart and wants to protect the people around him.

After it was thought he died in the season 3 finale, fans were happy to see Hopper was alive. Now that he is reunited with his family and friends, there are more opportunities to see how Hopper continues to open up and reveal how much he cares.

Joyce - Determined

Joyce Byers mouth agape at her store

One of the funniest aspects of Stranger Things is when Joyce has her freak-out moments when she is sure she's on to something. And she usually is.

Joyce Byers is one of the most determined characters in the series. When she needs to help someone she cares about and thinks she's figured out how to do it, there's no stopping her. She's as fierce of a mother as she is a friend when it comes to solving a mystery.

Nancy - Go-Getter

Nancy works with her school newspaper and strives to become a journalist. She's the one that doesn't just want to figure out the mystery but enjoys all of the investigations that come with it.

Nancy is the go-getter of the characters. She's thoughtful in her pursuit of the truth and doesn't allow fear to keep her from investigating. When there's something that needs to be figured out, viewers can expect Nancy to go head first into exploring the unknown.

Jonathan - Brave

Though Jonathan is seen as a timid, shy character, he is also one of the bravest. He doesn't have any special abilities or powers, but he conjures the strength to step in when someone needs help.

When his brother Will is missing, he is determined to save him. When Nancy accidentally slips into the Upside Down, he runs head first into danger to help her. Though he didn't have as significant of a role in season 4, Jonathan has proven he's brave in the face of danger.

Steve - Growth

Steve's biggest strength is his ability to grow. At the beginning of the series, Steve was a bit of a bully and many viewers were rooting for him to lose Nancy to Jonathan.

However, after he was introduced to the dangers of the Upside Down and became closer to the group, he changed his tune. Not only did his character grow kinder as the plot went on, but he also grew as a person, becoming more considerate of others.

Robin - Passionate

Though she came to the show later on, Robin is one of the Stranger Things characters ripe for a spin-off. Viewers love her quirky, open personality and the way she interacts with the original group.

Robin has a lot of enticing characteristics, but her strongest one is her passionate nature. From the moment she's introduced she's seen as quirky and teasing, but as time goes on it's clear that Robin has a lot of passion to share.

Will - Fighter

Noah Schnapp as Will Byers in Stranger Things Season 4

While all of the characters have gone through a lot throughout the plot, Will Byers was victimized right from the beginning. He was the focal point in season 1, with everyone struggling to figure out what happened to him.

Through his victimization, however, Will has learned how to fight for himself. He isn't the toughest character or the bravest, but he's a survivor. He isn't a fighter in the literal sense, but in how he's chosen to try to recover after being a victim of the Mind Flayer.

Lucas - Realistic

Stranger Things Will & Lucas

Lucas has some of the best quotes, always seeming to make sense even when he wasn't saying it in the nicest way. His character is there to point out the obvious even when it's hard to hear.

Many of the kids in this series are dreamers and are amazed by the supernatural occurrences as much as terrified by them. Lucas is the character to voice the danger and risk they're taking by helping Eleven or taking on monsters like the Demogorgon.

Dustin - Intelligent

Dustin is a go-getter in a uniquely intelligent way. He may be funny enough to make viewers laugh at every turn, but he's also one of the most intelligent characters in the series.

He has done many impressive things, but his most helpful contribution is when he discovers they can find the Upside Down by using a compass affected by the magnetic change from the other dimension. Dustin's intelligence is his biggest strength, often using it to help the group plot out a plan against the villain.

Mike - Born Leader

Mike has a lot of heart and ambition, which makes him a great leader of his group. While much of the tasks are seen as a group leader, it does seem they follow Mike's word more often.

A few of the characters question Mike throughout the series, especially his close friends Lucas, Will, and Dustin, but in the end, they seem to go along with his passionate choices more often than not. He's also seen as being the most helpful, especially when it comes to helping Eleven adapt and Will recover after his experiences in the Upside Down.

Max - Fierce

Max took on one of the most terrifying villains on TV, Vecna. Despite her struggles after losing her step-brother Billy, and her mother going through financial difficulties, she fought to the end.

When Max is introduced, she is seen as snarky and withdrawn, but seemingly independent. It's clear that though she needs her friends, she's fierce enough to stick up for herself and fight. Even when she's facing death, Max's fierce nature pushes her to face the formidable Vecna.

Eleven - Protective

Eleven and Friends in Stranger Things Season 4

Eleven's obvious strength is her supernatural abilities. However, her biggest strength is her protective nature, making her a clear hero as opposed to a dangerous villain like Vecna.

Though El's powers are extraordinary, she could have just as easily become an unhinged villain as a complex hero. However, her connection with first Mike, and then her friends and surrogate father Hopper, gave her something to fight for. Eleven is strong because she chooses to protect those she cares about and knows care about her.
