A new LEGO set based on the hit Netflix original Stranger Things has been revealed. There have been many building block toys over the years, but LEGO has remained a constant. With the company being around for decades, LEGO has been able to get the rights to several popular movies and TV shows to base their sets on. While LEGO has made sets based on popular franchises like Star Wars and Harry PotterStranger Things looks to be the next series that the company has set its eyes on.

Ever since the first season was released on Netflix in 2016, fans have been going crazy for the fantasy horror series. Season 1 dealt with the mysterious disappearance of a young boy named Will Byers (Noah Schnapp), while the second season dealt with a creature known as the Mind Flayer and the continuing mystery of the Upside Down. Both seasons starred Finn Wolfhard, Millie Bobby Brown, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, and Schnapp, all of which are set to return in season 3. Season 3 of Stranger Things is set for a 4th of July release, but first, fans will be able to get their hands on the first ever Stranger Things LEGO set.

The Stranger Things LEGO project was originally teased a few days ago, but now LEGO has officially revealed their new set. The set is a model of the Byers' house, which builders can turn upside down to display the dark alternate dimension. The set also comes with Hopper's police car and eight minifigures including Eleven, Mike Wheeler, Lucas Sinclair, Dustin Henderson, Will Byers, Joyce Byers, Chief Jim Hopper, and the Demogorgon. The set has over 2,200 pieces and will set fans back $199.99 to bring home. "The Upside Down" LEGO set will be available June 1st, but is available now for LEGO VIP members.

While LEGO has always seen success with their toys, the company has also branched into the film industry in recent years. Their first feature length film, The Lego Movie, was released in 2014 and included a ton of movie and TV show characters. The film got a sequel this year, as well as two spin-off films called The Lego Batman Movie and The Lego Ninjago MovieBillion Brick Race is supposed to be one of the upcoming LEGO movies, but not a lot has been heard about the project since it lost its director in 2018. A Lego Batman sequel is also thought to be in the works, but given the failure of The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part, future projects could be scrapped.

LEGO has seen varying success with their films, but their LEGO sets usually do incredibly well with fans and collectors. Over the years the company has released sets that are geared towards adult builders, which this Stranger Things set certainly seems to be. It's also interesting that this set contains all of the main characters in the show, since LEGO often splits up the different minifigures into different sets so that people are more inclined to buy multiple sets. Only "The Upside Down" set has been announced so far, but with the popularity of Stranger Things and the likely success of this new set, LEGO could certainly release more Stranger Things merchandise in the future.
