Sadie Sink reveals whether Kate Bush's "Running Up That Hill" featured in her 2022 Spotify Wrapped after the song re-entered the charts thanks to Stranger Things season 4. Created by the Duffer brothers, Stranger Things is Netflix's beloved sci-fi series that takes place in Indiana in the '80s. With each new season growing darker, Stranger Things season 4 featured the show's most horrifying villain to date: Vecna, a humanoid creature with the ability to murder his victims by penetrating their minds. Vecna's attempts to kill Sink's character, Max, resulted in a heart-pounding sequence that immediately caught fire across social media, as it was backed by Bush's 1985 track "Running Up That Hill."

As a result of its inclusion in Stranger Things season 4, Bush's song has enjoyed a major renaissance and continues to do so even now. Following its success, Sink was asked whether the song was top of her Spotify Wrapped (the music streaming service's yearly round-up of users' favorite tracks) after it played a major role in her character's season 4 arc. Speaking with Insider, she reveals that "Running Up That Hill" did not earn the top spot, but it did in fact make it last year, when the star was actually filming Stranger Things season 4. Check out Sink's full quote below.

It was last year though, but not this year. This was the year that it kind of took off. So I think I stopped listening to it.

What Will Happen To Max In Stranger Things Season 5?

Stranger Things season 4 followed Max's attempts to evade Vecna's clutches, aided by Bush's song that she would play on her trusty Walkman. This focus on Max left many fearful for the beloved character's fate entering the final episode of season 4, during which these fears were realized on screen. Vecna finally managed to get to Max, killing her before she was partially revived by Eleven in the season's heartbreaking final moments. After season 4 concluded with Max in a coma, audiences have been left with many questions surrounding Sink's future within Stranger Things.

Some have theorized that Max's fate lies in the hands of her friends, and that by defeating Vecna once and for all, they may stand a chance of bringing her back. As was addressed in season 4, it's likely that Eleven will play a major part in saving Max's life, particularly after Eleven tried to search for her inside her mind. However, some have speculated that Will Byers could potentially hold the key to releasing Vecna's hold over Hawkins and reviving Max, as the character shares a psychic connection with the villainous creature. Regardless of how it may happen, audiences are hopeful that Sink will play some role in Stranger Things season 5, though there is likely to be some time spent without her in the early parts of the season.

Given the immense popularity that "Running Up That Hill" has enjoyed, it's not surprising to hear that Sink may have heard enough of the song for now. With this particular scene from Stranger Things season 4 having since become one of the show's most iconic sequences, the Duffer brothers confirmed that season 5 will not feature a similar one, sharing how they feel that any sort of attempt to recreate the success of the season 4 scene would likely fail. With Stranger Things season 5 set to enter production in the new year, there is still some time to go until audiences learn Max's fate and discover just what Vecna's vengeful plans will entail.
