A new wave of Stranger Things Funko Pop! figures will include the gang in their Ghostbusters costumes, as seen in trailers and early images. The Duffer brothers hit sci-fi horror series Stranger Things is coming back for its second season just in time for Halloween and will follow the characters from the first season, about a year after Will’s return and Eleven’s sacrifice.

With the premiere date just around the corner, Netflix has been sharing various teasers and posters as part of its marketing game, and one company that is never left behind when it comes to big releases is Funko. The Stranger Things kids (and other characters as well) have already got the Funko Pop! treatment (including a special 8-bit version) and as part of the next wave of toys from the series, a version of the gang in their Halloween costumes will be released.

Among the first official images from Stranger Things season 2 was that of Mike, Dustin, Lucas, and Will in Ghostbusters costumes, which we later saw in trailers and clips. The reason behind this is that the season opens around Halloween of 1984, where we will see the kids going trick-or-treat in Hawkins. Unsurprisingly, this image became quite popular among fans of the series and soon they will be able to get the Funko Pop! version of the characters in their Ghostbusters costumes, as revealed by Ghostbusters News.

Although these Funkos are dressed the same, they are all carrying different items. Will, Mike, and Dustin are carrying their candy bags, with Will also carrying what looks like a walkie-talkie, Dustin holding an item that could be a Ghostbusters’ P.K.E meter, and Lucas carrying a proton gun. As for Mike, it’s unclear what he holds in his other hand. You can take a look at the figures below.

One of the many reasons why Stranger Things was so well received by the audience is due to its many references to pop culture from the 1980s, making it a nostalgia trip for many. With references to classics such as Alien, Star Wars, E.T, Halloween, and The Evil Dead – either with subtle hints such as the music or posters in the background, or more in-your-face references, like Mike showing his Yoda toy to Eleven – in season 1, it’s only natural that season 2 will also be packed with references of the decade; as seen already not only with the Ghostbusters costumes but also with a nod to Halloween’s very own slasher, Michael Myers.

There’s no word on when these figures will be released or if they will be exclusives or not, but it surely won't be long until Funko reveals all the details. Once season 2 premieres, it's fair to expect that Funko will release more figures inspired by whatever looks or key events the characters go through in the story. The new characters in season 2 (like Sean Astin’s Bob Newby and Sadie Sink’s Max) should also get Funko figures, down the line.
