WARNING: This post contains Stranger Things season 4 spoilers

Metallica plays along with the now-famous Stranger Things scene of Eddie performing the band's song "Master of Puppets" in a new video. In the Stranger Things season 4 finale, Eddie is part of the group that heads to the Upside Down to confront Vecna directly. Along with Dustin, Eddie plots to distract the bats in the Upside Down, so Steve, Robin, and Nancy can freely access Victor Creel's house and attack Vecna. Eddie's diversion comes in the form of him playing Metallica's "Master of Puppets" on his guitar, drawing the bats straight to his trailer.

Shortly after the episode premiered, the Stranger Things "Master of Puppets" sequence became one of the show's most iconic and is considered a highlight of the entire series - not just this recently-wrapped season. Metallica had an enthusiastic reaction to the Stranger Things finale, praising the Duffer Brothers for their use of music on the show. Now, the band further shows their appreciation by staging a duet with Eddie.

On Metallica's official TikTok page, the band posted a video of the group performing "Master of Puppets" along with the scene from the show. The post is captioned "Eddie, this is for you!" referencing Eddie's tribute to Chrissy on Stranger Things. Check out the video by clicking on the link below:

This is another illustration of how the "Master of Puppets" sequence - and Stranger Things in general - has permeated through pop culture. Similar to the "Running Up That Hill" scene in the "Dear Billy" episode, it's clear the show's use of "Master of Puppets" made an immediate impact with viewers, and it's fun to see Metallica embrace Stranger Things in this way. Eddie actor Joseph Quinn said the "Master of Puppets" scene was his favorite Stranger Things moment, and he put in a considerable amount of work to learn the song on guitar for production. It's clear Quinn's dedication and commitment paid off. At one point, Quinn was concerned his new character was going to ruin Stranger Things, but instead Eddie became one of the show's most beloved figures.

Sadly, Eddie's "Master of Puppets" cover will be the only metal concert he puts on in the Upside Down. Eddie heroically died fighting off the bats, buying Steve, Robin, and Nancy more time to get to Vecna. Despite fan campaigns for him to return, the Duffer Brothers confirmed Eddie's definitely dead, meaning it's highly unlikely Quinn comes back for season 5. It's unfortunate his stint on Stranger Things was so short, but Quinn's Eddie will forever be a part of TV history thanks to this memorable sequence that will go down as one of the show's best moments.
