WARNING: This post contains SPOILERS for Stranger Things season 4.

Stranger Things actor Joseph Quinn meets Metallica in a new video. Quinn played Stranger Things fan-favorite character Eddie Munson, a metal head and Dungeons & Dragons player introduced in season 4 of the hit Netflix series. Eddie ran Hawkins High's Hellfire Club, a D&D group that Mike and Dustin (Finn Wolfhard and Gaten Matarazzo) join when they begin high school. Over the course of Stranger Things season 4, Eddie goes from being accused of murder and considering himself a coward, to eventually having a heroic but fatal standoff with some demobats in the Upside Down while playing Metallica's "Master of Puppets." This scene not only added to Quinn's beloved performance as the sweet and misunderstood Eddie, but also made the character a cultural icon.

Eddie's "Masters of Puppets" scene is one of his most important moments in Stranger Things season 4. It perfectly ends Eddie's arc as he decides to protect is friends rather than to keep running away. Since the Stranger Things season 4 finale dropped back on July 1, Eddie's now-iconic Metallica scene has taken over TikTok and other social media platforms. The originators of "Master of Puppets," Metallica, also previously praised Quinn's role as Eddie and his performance of their song. While the heavy metal band said they were glad that "Master of Puppets" was such an important aspect of Eddie's arc, Quinn himself could never dream of what would happen next.

The Netflix Twitter account has now posted a video of Quinn going backstage at Lollapalooza to jam out with Metallica. During their real-life meeting, Quinn let the band know how connected he felt to them after listening to their music constantly for two years in preparation for Stranger Things season 4. The band told Quinn how much they enjoy the show and watch it with their own children. Most importantly, however, Quinn got to play "Master of Puppets" with Metallica, and the band gave him his own signed Gibson guitar before creating an Eddie Munson tribute when "Master of Puppets" played during their Lollapalooza set. It is undeniable that Eddie has left a deep impact on fans after his Stranger Things debut, proving a relatable and charming character as a misunderstood outsider. Eddie having one of the most memorable moments of Stranger Things season 4 touched many who felt a connection to him, and the above video makes it clear that even Metallica themselves are included in this. Since Eddie's big Stranger Things finale scene, social media has been flooded with videos of people jamming out to "Master of Puppets." Metallica even joined the TikTok trend, and meeting the actor behind this stellar sequence seems to mean a lot to the group.

Eddie Munson himself would be awestruck to learn Metallica played in his memory. After being hated by the people of Hawkins, and only his uncle and Dustin seemingly mourning for Eddie in the Stranger Things season 4 finale, the character has since received a kind of justice through the love of fans, and videos like this one. While Eddie may be gone, it is heartwarming to see the actor who brought the true hero of Hawkins to life getting to meet his heroes.
