At a recent concert, Metallica showed clips of Eddie Munson’s epic Stranger Things finale guitar riff during their performance of “Master of Puppets.” Earlier this summer, Netflix's much-loved '80s sci-fi hit Stranger Things finally returned to screens, to the delight of audiences around the world. The highly anticipated season 4 broke numerous streaming records as audiences were reunited with Eleven and the Hawkins gang, alongside a handful of new faces, as they sought to take down the terrifying season 4 villain Vecna, following his string of gruesome murders.

Of these new faces, one character in particular has gone on to become somewhat of a social media sensation following his appearance in Stranger Things season 4. Joseph Quinn played the eccentric and instantly loveable leader of Hawkins High School's Hellfire club, Eddie Munson. Misunderstood by many, Eddie's time in Hawkins was cut short in a heart-wrenching moment of self-sacrifice, which was preceded by an epic performance of Metallica's "Master of Puppets" as he attempted to lure a hoard of demobats away from his friends. Metallica previously responded to their involvement in the Stranger Things season 4 finale, calling it an "incredible honor," but now the band have taken this acknowledgment one step further.

The season 4 scene has since established itself as one of Stranger Things' most iconic moments, with many praising the show's creators, the Duffer brothers, for their song choice. It was recently revealed that Quinn learned to play "Master of Puppets" prior to filming, after the Stranger Things writers recently shared a video of the actor practicing the notoriously tricky song. It was also confirmed that some of the show's final cut actually featured Quinn playing the guitar, though a stand-in was ultimately used for the more complicated close-up parts.

With Quinn having previously revealed that his favorite moment to shoot for Stranger Things season 4 was his "Master of Puppets" performance, this is likely to feel somewhat surreal for the actor. It's also fantastic to see that Metallica are so honored by the inclusion of their song that they would take it so far as to include the show's clips during their concert. While many are hoping to see Eddie return in Stranger Things season 5 in some capacity, for now, fans will have to take comfort knowing he succeeded at performing "the most metal concert in the history of the world."
