Netflix plans to reveal the episode titles for the long-awaited Stranger Things season 4 on Saturday in honor of an important date to the fandom. Fans of the supernatural show celebrate November 6 as "Stranger Things Day," as Will Byers (Noah Schnapp) went missing on that date back in 1983. The series has remained one of Netflix's most popular shows since its debut in 2016 and propelled its cast of young actors to mainstream stardom.

The streaming service hasn't released a new season of Stranger Things since 2019, and season 4 will premiere sometime in 2022.  The gap, along with ambitious subplots, has led to some criticism of the show that was once a slow-burning supernatural thriller that everyone was talking about. But Netflix is gearing up to reintroduce its subscribers to some grown-up Stranger Things kids and continue to haunt our nightmares with visions of Demogorgons in the upside-down.

The current iteration of the Stranger Things story is somewhat difficult to grasp, and not just because it's been so long since we've watched the last season. The show has turned to rely heavily on cliffhangers and over-the-top storylines. But viewers fell in love with its first season because the story of sinister happenings overtaking a sleepy town brings the nostalgia and the hair-raising thrills reminiscent of an 80s flick. And the mysterious aspects of the storyline that didn't border on a little over-the-top — such as Hopper (David Harbour)'s fake death that turned into a Russian kidnapping plot.

Considering the significant gap between seasons, Netflix seems like its trying to keep subscribers excited about Stranger Things season 4. No premiere date has been announced, so it's easy for fans to have forgotten what exactly they were so excited about. Netflix's events that include interactive experiences and over-the-top reveals definitely help build hype around a show that was once on top but needs to remind fans why they fell in love with Stranger Things in the first place.
