WARNING! Major spoilers for Stranger Things season 4 vol. 2!

It's been over a week since season 4 volume 2 of Strangers Things dropped on Netflix and fans still can't get over the season finale. With plot twists, character deaths, and horror galore, the last two episodes of season 4 go out with a bang. While there are a lot of intense action and fighting scenes, there are also plenty of beautiful moments of friendship.

The show has focused on platonic friendship since season 1 with the party only growing in size every season. Characters like Max, Erica, and Robin who were added later in the series are fan-favorites now and have equally deep friendships as the original characters do. With so much love in the series, there are a number of meaningful lines too.

Peas In A Pod

"He's The Starsky To My Hutch."

Joyce and Murray outside of the crashed plane on Stranger Things

One of the most unlikely friendships to come out of Stranger Things (other than Steve and Dustin) is that of Joyce Byers and Murray Bauman. Brought together in season 3 when in need of a Russian translator, Murray has become a key member of defeating the terrors of the Upside Down and helping Joyce with her grief over losing Hopper.

Season 4 sees the two flying to Russia together to save an alive and imprisoned Hopper and they become even closer. They bounce ideas off each other, encourage each other and keep each other safe. With enough antics to have their own crime-fighting show, the pair are worthy of carrying on Starsky and Hutch's legacy.

Passing Notes

"I'm Glad You're Here." "Me Too!"

Max wearing headphones holding up a notepad that says "I'm glad you're here."

Passing notes is a rite of passage for teenagers but that doesn't usually happen while waiting to bait and kill a psychic monster in another dimension. While waiting for the next phase, Lucas and Max are left alone and bored in the Creel house. Writing awkward and adorable notes, Max says she's happy Lucas is there with her.

Though they used to date, they broke up before season 4 and have shown to still have a close relationship. Whether that is friendship or more is irrelevant because it is clear how much they care for one another. While this scene is adorable, it becomes tragic to rewatch knowing that Max and Lucas are still waiting on that movie date after Vecna's horrific attack on Max that has left her indefinitely comatose.

Protective Besties

"If You Touch Her Again, I Will Kill You Again."

Since becoming closer in season 3, it is clear how much Eleven and Max care for each other. They are best friends and have obviously missed each other's company when Eleven moves to California with the Byers.

When El finds out about Max's curse, she becomes an overprotective best friend that is beautiful to see. Now powered up again, Eleven uses all her might to save Max. They are both fiercely loyal and defensive of their friendships and it is incredible to see them together after being separated for all of volume 1.

Pinky Swear

"Never Change, Dustin Henderson. Promise Me."

Stranger Things season 4 Dustin Eddie

Introduced in volume 1, Eddie Munson quickly became a fan-favorite character which led to hysteria when he is killed off in the season 4 finale. In the penultimate episode, Eddie acts as if he knows what's to happen and makes sure to let the people around him know how much he cares for them.

In particular, Eddie makes sure that Dustin knows how much he values their brotherly relationship. Wrestling Dustin after he makes a terribly terrific pun, Eddie makes his young friend promise he'll never change for anyone because he's already perfect the way he is.

Guiding Light

"You're Guiding The Whole Party, Inspiring Us. That's What You Do. And See Your Coat Of Arms... It's A Heart... That's What Holds This Whole Party Together. Heart. Because Without Heart, We'd All Fall Apart."

Stranger-Things-Will-Painting-Season-4-Vol-2

One of the characters who need a bigger role in season 5 is Will Byers considering his lack of a character arc in season 4. While he didn't see much action, Will had an incredibly emotional scene with one of his best friends.

In the painting he's kept hidden since volume 1, Will lets a confused and scared Mike know that he is the glue who holds the whole party together and he holds everyone together with love. Pretending to talk about Eleven, Will admits his intense feelings for Mike. While their relationship in the future is unknown, Will treasures their friendship more than anything which is more than evident in this beautiful and sweet quote.

Master Of Metallica

"Dude! Most Metal Ever! Oh My God!"

An image of Eddie playing the guitar in Stranger Things

In one of Stranger Things' best needle-drop musical moments, Eddie shreds Metallica's "Master of Puppets" atop his motor home in the Upside Down in order to lure the Demo-bats away from Vecna's lair. Endearingly, he dedicates the number to Chrissy who he never got to know properly but developed a quick and emotional bond with.

After putting on "the most metal concert in the history of the world", they scramble inside Eddie's trailer. Full of anxious energy and musical endorphins, Dustin hysterically shouts about his friend's awesome and totally badass performance as the two ecstatically jump around together in one of the last happy moments before the final battle.

Thanks For The Memories

"I Just Need To Push Him Away. Find A Happy Memory And Hide There. Hide In The Light." "You Got A Memory In Mind?" "It Was A Time When I Was The Happiest."

Stranger Things Season 4 Max Snow Ball

Max's season 4 journey has been torturous but through the dark memories she's forced to remember by Vecna, she uses her good memories to escape them. Often thinking of her shopping trip and sleepover with Eleven from season 3, kind words said by Lucas, movies with the Party, and really getting to know her friends at Halloween.

However, when she offers herself up as bait to Vecna so that they can kill him, Max plans on using her happiest memory to hide from him, which are her memories of the Snow Ball from season 2. While not she wasn't besties with El yet, Max was with all her dearest friends at the winter dance and even had her first kiss with Lucas. It is a beautiful memory, not just for Max but for fans as well.

He's Graduating

"I Love You, Man." "I Love You Too."

Stranger Things 4 Vol 2 Eddie Death Dustin Holding Him

Unlike most people, Eddie does not hide his sentiments behind the toxic masculinity expected from the 1980s, instead, he is physically and verbally affectionate, especially with Dustin Henderson. Like Steve and Dustin, Eddie is like Dustin's big brother and is incredibly protective of him.

When they are surrounded by Demo-bats, Eddie makes sure Dustin escapes before he goes to buy everyone more time. While being a hero, Eddie sadly dies in Dustin's arms but not before he tells Dustin he loves him. Platonic love such as this is underrated and often underutilized in television, but Stranger Things focuses on friendships and beautiful moments such as this, one of the saddest quotes in Stranger Things 4,  before breaking fans' hearts.

Never Let Her Go

"No. You're Not Going. No."

Eleven Brings Max Back To Life

When Max succumbs to the gruesome injuries inflicted by Vecna, she becomes the fourth and final sacrifice needed to break open the damn between the real world and the Upside Down. Unable to handle more loss, Eleven is resolute in not letting Max die.

As Eleven tries to use her powers to save Max memories of the fun the two friends had together in season 3 before El moves are played. They are truly best friends who would do anything for each other and to the relief of fans, El is inexplicably able to revive Max with new powers, a potential theory that could be explored in Stranger Things season 5.

A Eulogy Like No Other

"I Wish Everyone Would've Gotten To Know Him. Really Know Him. Because They Would've Loved Him... Even, In The End, He Never Stopped Being Eddie... He Fought And Died To Protect This Town. This Town That Hated Him. He Isn't Just Innocent... He's A Hero."

Dustin talking to Eddie's Uncle in Stranger Things Volume 2

To the expected disappointment of Stranger Things fans, adored newcomer Eddie is brutally killed in the season 4 finale, as seems to be common with fan-favorite minor characters. When Dustin comes across Eddie's loving uncle at the earthquake shelter, he reveals that he was with Eddie in his final moments.

Dustin promises that he knew the kind of person Eddie really was and if the town had gotten to know him, they would have loved him as Dustin did. It is a beautiful but tragic eulogy of such an amazing character who bewitched fans in every scene, made some truly loyal friends in his final weeks, and died a hero.
