WARNING: This article contains spoilers from Stranger Things 2

Stranger Things 2 reveals a number of secrets but none more important than the secret to Steve Harrington's perfect hair. Joe Keery's barnet earned a dedicated following of its own after season 1 hit Netflix last year, and now the Duffer Brothers have rewarded his fans with the secret of the routine Steve lives by, in order to ensure his locks are always luscious.

The big reveal comes in "Chapter Six: The Spy" after Dustin Henderson (Gaten Matarazzo) has enlisted Steve's help in order to track down his pollywog-turned-demodog D'Artagnan, who has graduated from eating nougat to eating cats. In a very Stand by Me-looking scene, the two walk along a railway track while leaving a trail of raw meat behind them, and Steve dishes out some girl advice. He tells Dustin that there's more to getting girls than just his perfect hair, but eventually reveals his styling secret:

"Fabergé. It's Fabergé Organics. Use the shampoo and conditioner and when your hair's damp, it's not wet, OK. When it's damp, you do four puffs of the Farrah Fawcett [hair] spray... You tell anyone I just told you and your ass is grass. You're dead, Henderson. Do you understand?"

It's actually a pretty sweet moment that positions Steve as a sort of big brother to Dustin and the rest of the group. He leads them in the initial battle against the demodogs, and later defends them against Max's sadistic older brother. The fact that Steve was willing to risk his life again, despite the fact that he and Nancy Wheeler (Natalia Dyer) had split up by that point, goes to show how much his character has changed for the better. The horrifying events of season one have made him into a more selfless person and created a bond with the middle schoolers that will probably never break.

Steve teaches Dustin the secret to his perfect hair

Later, we see Dustin take his advice and transform his curly locks into a Flock of Seagulls-esque 'do to rival Steve's for the school dance. And who is there to pick Dustin up and drop him off? Steve, of course. He calms Dustin's nerves and tells him that he "looks great."

"You're going to go in there, looking like a million bucks and you're gonna slay 'em dead."

The new 'do doesn't get quite the reaction that Dustin was hoping for from the ladies in his grade - but. as Nancy reminds him, in a few years they will all be lusting after him and his gorgeous hair.

The fact that Steve is passing on the secret of his defining feature to Dustin makes you wonder if he was a little like Dustin during his younger days. Either way, Stranger Things fans will be happy to learn the truth behind Steve's luscious hair and see his personality begin to share even more of its lustre. Good job, Steve.
