It looks as if Hopper wasn't the only person hoping Eleven would return in this new Stranger Things season 2 promo. In less than two days, Netflix will release the new season of Stranger Things and attempt to recapture the magic of last year's debut. While fans have been cautiously optimistic about the continuation of the storyline, things are so far looking good. Early reviews for Stranger Things season 2 have been overwhelmingly positive, indicating a series well aware of its strengths and how to deliver them. And with the premiere just around the corner, Netflix has been unloading new content on a daily basis.

This past weekend, the poster and soundtrack for Stranger Things season 2 arrived, teasing more of the show's mysteries. It also allowed fans to get in the mood for the series, which is just as unique from an audio perspective as a visual one. Along with the homages to classic horror and sci-fi and lots of pop culture references from the '80s, the soundtrack by Kyle Dixon and Michael Stein helped to elevate Stranger Things to a new level. So too did many of the character pairings, especially Eleven and Mike. And as it turns out, Mike hasn't forgotten Eleven.

The Stranger Things Twitter posted a new promo for season 2 in the form of an audio recording. Said to be almost a year after Eleven disappeared, the clip features Mike reaching out to his lost friend on a Walkie Talkie. Though he hasn't made contact, there's a good chance Eleven has been listening and waiting for the right time.

We know that Eleven will return this season on the show after her year away, but she clearly hasn't been in the Upside Down this whole time. Hopper's stash of Eggos has regularly been cleared out, so Eleven seems to be traveling back and forth on her own mission. And though Mike might be upset that she didn't respond to him, there's likely some good reasons why Eleven has had to remain in the shadows.

Yesterday, we saw a big batch of new clips from Stranger Things season 2 posing as surveillance footage. All together, they painted a picture of a Hawkins under constant watch by a mysterious group. After the events of last season and with all the new things bubbling to the surface this year, it's no surprise that the government or some other agency would come to Hawkins looking for answers. And given Eleven's past with groups like that, it's no wonder she's been trying to keep a low profile. Regardless, the reunion of Eleven and Mike will be one of the key moments of the new season of Stranger Things.
