Berserker is one of the many advanced jobs in Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin. Basic jobs are determined by the weapon Jack wields - a spear for a Lancer, gloves for a Pugilist. But once going deep in several skill trees, advanced jobs are unlocked. These new jobs aren’t as restrictive with weapons. For example, the iconic Dragoon could choose to use martial arts, or Red Mage acts as a sturdy guard.

While advancing towards the Berserker, players will at first find themselves traveling to Dimensions beyond places associated with the first Final Fantasy. Key Berserker weapons will be located either inside or by beating Dimensions 14 and 2. Longtime fans will quickly notice that these dungeons are inspired by locations in Final Fantasy XIV and Final Fantasy II, respectively.

Advanced jobs are gained at the bottom of standard job skill trees, and players will need to go down these paths on at least two jobs. This means players will likely need to grind to level 12 or more on two jobs, either via combat experience points or spending Anima Shards on instant levels. Getting other jobs first - like Dragoon or Warrior - will delay unlocking Berserker by an equal amount of extra levels.

To gain Berserker, players will need to level up certain skills from two starter jobs, Swordsman and Marauder. Swordsman is Jack’s starting class which makes it a good idea to focus on getting Berserker from a low level. Marauder is first gained by clearing the second-story dungeon, Pravoka Seagrot, which will drop the first axe. Berserkers themselves can use either greatswords or axes, allowing varied customization once unlocked. Still, most players should opt for using the quick optimization function, which will give the best equipment to the whole party.

Swordsman (Greatsword) skills

  • Spinning Slash
  • Swordsman Affinity +10%
  • Onslaught
  • Reinforce
  • Ever Stronger
  • Highbringer
  • New Job Berserker (1)

Marauder (Axe) skills

  • Upheaval
  • Marauder Affinity +10%
  • Ground Pound
  • Upheaval Mastery
  • Arcane Axe
  • Strike Damage +3.1%
  • New Job Berserker (2)

Like all jobs, Berserkers will start fresh at level 1. It is highly recommended that players return to earlier missions to safely level up. Alternately, pairing the new job with higher-level jobs, including Swordsman and Marauder, will also allow more options and better survivability. Additionally, party members like Ash and Neon can protect a low-level Jack somewhat efficiently, though their AI might be questionable at times.

At first, job switching is exclusive to Jack. However, as the story progresses job changing will be available to the other party members. Still, each person only gains a few select jobs over time. This includes some from story missions and others from sidequests. Players that want to always have a Berserker should rely on using it on Jack instead of anyone else.
