At Strange Academy, a curriculum is taught by some of the most powerful magicians in the Marvel Universe to educate and guide the next generation of young sorcerers. While the students enjoy the diversity of their classes and what they'll teach them, the classroom is not only a place of learning but also respect and those who choose to not follow the rules may pay a heavy price as two students in Illyana Rasputina's class find out the hard way.

In Strange Academy #2, written by Skottie Young and illustrated by Humberto Ramos, we witness the first day of classes where the students meet their teachers and experience first-hand the unorthodox magic classes they'll be having at the facility. One of the many highlights is "Inferno 101" taught by Illyana Rasputina aka X-Men's Magik and her co-teacher Daimon Hellstrom. Ilyana's attempt to start the class off with a joke falls flat and to make matters worse, her introduction is interrupted by the tardy entrance of Asgardian pretty boy Iric. He brushes off Ms. Rasputina's reminder about tardiness and in front of the entire class, he challenges her authority. As her co-teacher shakes his head, Magik reminds everyone that she is not to be trifled with by immediately summoning a portal that sends Iric to Hell.

When his roommate Doyle Dormammu gloats about his disappearance with a slew of questions, Magik sends Iric some company as Doyle is teleported away as well and Magik instructs the class to learn from their example before continuing with the days lesson.

Magik is considered the Sorceress Supreme of the Limbo dimension, a magical dimension full of demonic creatures similar to the general interpretation of Hell, and her abilities include teleportation, advanced sorcery, control of the Limbo dimension, mystical armor, and the use of enchanted weapons such as her iconic Soulsword. She has been a powerful member of the X-Men along with her brother Piotor aka Colossus and is considered a powerful sorcerer among the Magical elite. Her co-teacher Daimon Hellstrom doesn't need to have his credentials checked being the "Son of Satan", a powerful sorcerer who's toyed the line between being a hero or villain over the years. However powerful he is, his powers take a backseat as Magik's powers are shown with the simplest yet most frightening use. Iric is one part of duo of Asgardian brothers who've taken a change of scenery from the halls of Asgard to the Strange Academy in New Orleans and Doyle Dormammu is the illegitimate son of Doctor Strange's archenemy the dread Dormaummu, complete with the flaming head and all.

Iric and Doyle appear to be roommates at the school and off the bat, they do not appear to get along. While one can imagine the mystical qualities of the school could make finding the right door to the correct classroom might be difficult, Iric took it too far by brushing off Illyana's policy and challenging her in class. Doyle's crime was that he gloated over his classmate's fate, showing little concern or care. Illyana does as all teachers do, they make sure the unseen students learn two important lessons: don't be late and look out for each other, the latter could be a matter of life or death. When its brought up in a staff meeting, Magik doesn't deny but compares it to the crazy scope of events that will happen regularly in the school walls, barely agreeing not to do it again.

As the other students continue to enjoy the ups and downs of their first day, Doyle and Iric are shown battling demons and yet their bickering back and forth doesn't end. Only after the day has come to an end, Iric's brother Alvi inquires as to his whereabouts. When the other students inform him of the kind of punishment he endured, one of Magik's fiery portals appears to dump him and Doyle back at the school. Barely skipping a beat, the worn out and tattered Iric asks if there's any food leftover from dinner. Apparently learning your lesson in Hell builds up a hell of an appetite.
