Regular viewers of Storage Wars noticed the show went on sabbatical for a time after the 12th season ended in January 2019. The show hadn’t been canceled, but there was also no word on future seasons. It seemed like the show was over, especially as some of the cast members moved on to other projects. Fan-favorite former footballer, Ivy Calvin, spent his break doing pretty much what you’d expect him to be doing.

Before he got into the storage bidding and resale businesses, Ivy Calvin was heavily into sports. He played football in and after college, even making it into the Arena Football League. He also briefly went into MMA fighting. In 2009, he opened his secondhand store. Grandma’s Attic. When he was approached to join Storage Wars in 2012 after Dave Hester’s messy split from the show, Ivy jumped at the chance.

Ivy Calvin’s time on Storage Wars helped him promote his business, earn more customers, and ensure the continuation of the business he successfully started. When Storage Wars seemed to have ended in 2019, he continued working to promote his store on social media. His Twitter, @storagewarsivy, is full of pictures of interesting collector's items he has come across that are for sale in his shop. Though he also has an Instagram page, he rarely updates it. 2019 was the 10th anniversary of Grandma’s Attic, which is an exciting milestone.

Some Storage Wars stars like to be in the limelight, such as Brandi and Jarrod, who starred in their own spin-off. Calvin doesn’t seem to want to spotlight himself as much as he does his store. However, like most reality stars these days, he does have a Cameo page. When he isn’t working, he seems to spend most of his time with his family. He has a wife, who he married in 2014, and two sons, Ivy Jr. and Isaiah, both of whom seem interested in following in their father’s footsteps. In season 13 of the show, Ivy Jr. and Isaiah have both made appearances.

The hiatus of Storage Wars didn’t seem to change Ivy Calvin’s life too greatly. He had already started his successful business when he landed the TV gig, and his time on the show gave his business a boost. Now that Storage Wars is back, he is getting his sons involved and might one day pass the torch and Grandma’s Attic on to them. Whether or not Storage Wars is back for the long-term or not, Calvin appears to have built a comfortable life for himself and his family.
