Looks like Arrow star Stephen Amell was less than thrilled with how the filming of Green Arrow's first death went in The CW's Crisis on Infinite Earths. This season's annual crossover between ArrowThe FlashSupergirlDC's Legends of Tommorrow, and Batwoman was the network's biggest and most ambitious yet. In it, the heroes of the Arrowverse took on a multi-universal threat that sounds like it made for an especially challenging shooting schedule.

The Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover featured a number of jaw-dropping moments, from huge plot twists to shocking DCEU cameos, but the moments that seemed to hit fans the hardest were the not one, but two death scenes for Stephen Amell's Oliver Queen. Before his ultimate heroic sacrifice in the event's finale, Oliver Queen met his end in Crisis' first episode when he stayed behind on Earth-38. There, he fended off the Anti-Monitor's shadow demons and covered the citizens' flight to Earth-1 before being teleported back to his friends for a final goodbye.

In a conversation on Michael Rosenbaum's podcast Inside of You (via ComicBook), Amell discussed how difficult this first death scene was to film. He explained:

They were trying to wrap Caity [Lotz] and Grant [Gustin] before I shot the coverage of the scene where I died. I blame no one for this, but this is a scene with me from Arrow that's taking place on Supergirl, with a Supergirl crew, with demands on both Grant and Caity. And they're trying to pull them so that Flash and Legends don't mess up their day the next day. Meanwhile, the f-cking Green Arrow was laying on a gurney trying to deliver his lines to something other than a f-cking tennis ball. So, there are lots of scenes where I'm acting and there just aren't other actors there, and that is just not an acceptable way of creating the best product, from my perspective.

It's easy to see why such an emotionally taxing scene was made all the harder in an unfamiliar environment. It's also safe to say that while Amell has enjoyed his time under the hood, he won't miss the hectic schedules that these crossovers represent. This is especially true as even with Arrow coming to an end, the Arrowverse continues to grow. For example, The Flash started an official Justice League (or Super Friends!) on the new Earth-Prime that now includes Black Lightning.

There's also a seat presumably left open for Oliver's daughter, Mia, once she grows up enough to take the mantle and assuming Green Arrow and the Canaries gets picked up for a full season after the recent backdoor pilot. Newly ordered series Superman and Lois will likely join the fun as well. So with all these added ingredients, it's a safe bet that whatever event succeeds Crisis on Infinite Earths will come with an even crazier shooting schedule for the cast and crew to manage. Though this time, it will be minus the Arrow that started it all.
