Steam Deck Faces Complications and Competition

One of the other additions to the Steam Deck's features is keyboard support for simplified Chinese, traditional Chinese, Japanese and Korean. However, reservations are still needed for any orders from Japan, Korea, Taiwan, and Hong Kong. In spite of updates like these, there have been other issues with performance and even temperature. After a heatwave in Britain, Steam sent a warning to players that the Steam Deck can overheat in high temperature environments.

There have also been competitors challenging the Steam Deck in the market, including big names like Logitech and Razer. Logitech's device relies heavily on cloud technology, and will also support apps like Xbox Cloud Gaming, Steam, and Nvidia GeForce Now. Razer and Verizon have teamed up to create the Razer Edge 5G, which is staking its claim as the first 5G supported handheld console. Steam Deck may have its hands full with such competition, but with its impressive library and solid history of support, it could certainly be argued that Valve has the upper hand. Valve president Gabe Newell has already mentioned interest in a Steam Deck 2, so time will tell what the future holds for the Steam Deck and its potential descendants.
