Ghost of Tsushima is the story of a warrior who is forced to deviate from the path of the samurai and become a ghost. The player must master the art of stealth and assassinations in order to thrive in this war-torn region. Not every encounter can be handled head-on, so players should work on learning all that they can about blending into their surroundings.

Players are given the choice of how to approach the vast majority of situations within the game. Players who aren’t usually the hand to hand types will enjoy the wealth of options for stealth. The mechanics are tried and true but aren’t easy to master for all players. Here’s everything you need to know about stealth in Ghost of Tsushima.

Stealth Mechanics in Ghost of Tsushima

Players have tons of choices for how to approach combat situations within the game. However, there are a few situations in which stealth is a necessity. Mongols often take prisoners from villages in Tsushima. These villagers need to be rescued safely in order to successfully complete the mission. Players need to pay attention to their stealth because the Mongols will strive to kill all of the prisoners if they discover your presence.

Focused Hearing mode allows you to hear exactly what noises your enemies are making as well as your own. In many other games, players are unaware of just how much noise is being heard by the enemy. Sometimes the noise audible is significantly louder than that which is heard by enemies. This throws off the player's ability to trust their tactics. This isn't an issue here. Focus mode allows players to hear every footstep and even their breathing.

Stealth Combat in Ghost of Tsushima

Stealth Combat can be difficult to pull off in most cases. The Mongols don't often wander off on their own. This doesn't provide a lot of options for undiscovered kills. Players should try to lure enemies into harder to see areas before attacking. Players should keep in mind that stealth kills take longer than in similar games. This can leave the player open to discovery if they are not extra careful.

Players are given a wide range of weapons that will aid in stealth. The Box and Arrow can be gained early in the game and is one of the most valuable tools. Because of the Mongol's close patterns, taking out more than one at once will be difficult. Players may want to start by taking out a few of them from a distance with the Bow first. If the player is discovered by a single enemy, there will still be time to take them down before they are able to alert their friends. Use the Kunai to stun the enemy before running up and slashing them down. If this is done fast enough, the player can maintain their stealth.

Stay away from using loud weapons such as bombs during stealth missions. Even the Smoke Bomb will alert the enemy to your presence, which can result in dead hostages.
