The success of Grey's Anatomy opened the door for a crew of firefighters placing it all on the line for the same residents of Seattle in which the doctors of Grey Sloan Memorial put their skills to the test to save lives for. Station 19 is home to different personalities. While not as many as Grey's, the writers have done a great job giving each one their own separate voice despite many crossovers with its parent show.
Fans of Ben Warren will still get their fix as he paired with strong-minded firefighters such as Andy, Jack, Maya, Dean, and others. There is never a shortage of great fire storylines like Chicago Fire but the essence of the show is still the characters. Who ranks atop the list of the most likable?
Robert Sullivan
It's safe to say that no one cared for Robert when he took over for Pruitt. He was distant from the rest of the team and his character just didn't fit well with the dynamic of the Station. Robert came in strong but was still dealing with demons of his own.
Robert's character continued to draw dislike from viewers thanks to his drug addiction. He stole from Ben Warren and that was more than enough to become the most disliked character on the show. He would make amends but that was only after Warren made him do it.
Maya Bishop
It's hard to like Maya. From the offset, she comes across as an opportunist. However, viewers would learn that was in large part due to her father. An Olympic Gold Medalist, Maya has known nothing but hard work and winning. When she became Lt, everything about Maya changed. She became another Robert Sullivan.
Needless to say, that didn't sit well with her firehouse. She had to earn back their trust but in doing so, had to face her own demons. Maya needed help but kept pushing everyone away. Not a bad character. Maya is very intelligent much like Yang was.
Jack Gibson
What viewers like about Jack is that he's rough around the edges. He has a good heart just has a hard time showing it. He likes to live in a shell which makes him appear distant. The truth is, Jack needs people in his life. The downside to that is, he often pulls in the wrong people.
Sleeping with another firefighter's wife should have cost him his job, but he somehow managed to stay. Now, Jack has a thing for another married woman that he helped save. Sometimes, he just can't stay out of his own way.
Andy Herrera
Station 19 is a spinoff from Grey's Anatomy with a strong female lead. But what makes Andy different from Meredith Grey is her pure stubbornness. Meredith is a leader but Andy has shown that she's can care more about her individual success than the success of others.
Her father instilled hard work into her since her mother left at a young age. Andy's love life has been one heck of a rollercoaster but she still has a lot to learn when it comes to her attitude.
Ben Warren
Grey's Anatomy fans are well familiar with Ben Warren. The hot-shot intern who loved to push the limits of the rule book who went on to marry Miranda Bailey then left to become a firefighter. One would think that he would become the center of Station 19, but that wasn't the case. Ben is still a central figure, but not the lead.
He's still the same Ben. Willing to take risks even if that means disobeying orders. For fans that remember him from Grey's, this is nothing new. But to those just getting familiar with him, he may come off as a bit cocky.
Travis Montgomery
Travis carries himself as a leader and from the first episode, many would have thought he was just that. It's his persona. Jack is gay and with that, he learned to show that tough exterior in a profession where that was once looked down upon. But Jack is fearless and he's going to make sure things go his way.
He has more than earned the respect of his peers. His only downside is that Jack can be a bit too truthful at times. His past is not as damaging as some of the others but the hurt from his husband still sits on his heart.
Ryan Tanner
Ryan was the guy from next door who couldn't quite get over his feelings for Andy. Ryan became a cop in Seattle which placed him and Andy often in the same place. Their friendship turned into something more and fans had a chance to see the best side of Ryan.
Ryan wanted more than just to be a beat cop in a squad car. He wanted to save lives on the scene. That would lead to a decision that changed his life. A good-hearted character, his absence on Station 19 is much like losing a likable character on Grey's. Ryan wanted to save the world, but most importantly, he wanted to save Andy.
Victoria Hughes
Vic goes for what she wants. She doesn't hold back and for that, she is one of the best characters on the show. She has a lot to offer. She's funny, brilliant, defiant, and reckless. No wonder the writers tried their best to pair her with a fan-favorite in Jackson Avery from Grey's Anatomy.
Even with her solid traits, the writers have failed her character in the romance department. Vic was given a real shot at love and it was snatched away. Jackson was just a person of the moment to help heal but now they're throwing Dean in a possibility. Vic is great, she just needs a better storyline.
Pruitt Herrera
Pruitt began the show as the Chief of Station 19. He then learned that he has cancer and just like that, everything was stripped for him. Now a civilian, Pruitt had no idea what to do with his life. He and his daughter Andy would bump heads often due to their stubbornness.
Pruitt ranks high on this list for giving his life to save his daughter and the team. But fans thought he may have been a bad father once suggestions were made regarding Andy's mother. Fans would learn that Pruitt was a stand-up guy when the truth was revealed.
Dean Miller
The "gentle giant" is what Dean should be called. At Station 19, Dean is the one who looks as if he could lift the burning house and carry everyone to safety. On the outside, Dean resembles a wrestler, however, his persona is that of a teddy bear. He's a great friend and once he learned to open up, he became a very likable character.
The one downside to Dean is his inability to stick up for himself when it comes to his parents. Now a single parent, Dean has earned points with fans for his smooth transition to fatherhood.
