The upcoming Static Shock movie just recruited one of Hollywood's talented creators as a producer, Michael B. Jordan. One of DC Comics' most beloved superheroes is Virgil Hawkin, a.k.a. Static Shock. Despite a successful animated series, the character has struggled with getting into the world of live-action. However, the teenage hero made a big splash at DC FanDome, where a live-action adaptation of Static Shock was announced.

While Static Shock is featured on animated shows like Young Justice, Warner Bros. has had a tricky time transitioning the character to live-action. Years ago, a web series was being developed for the electrifying superhero by Blue Ribbon Content. Jaden Smith was rumored to have landed the role of Static Shock, but nothing ever materialized.

While the live-action film still doesn't a director, it now has a very impressive producer. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Jordan has come on board and will be producing under his WarnerMedia-production banner, Outlier Society. In an official statement, Jordan talked about how excited he is to be part of creating a brand new universe headlined by black superheroes. His comments seem to hint that more characters from the Milestone brand will be part of the larger plan.

Jordan is no stranger to comic book properties as he played the villainous Killmonger in Black Panther. His work as a producer includes the Creed franchise, where he also stars. With a high-profile talent like Jordan, there is minimal risk of Static Shock disappearing again while being developed. Plus, if this film is leading into a larger plan involving the expanded universe of Milestone characters, it will be one to keep an extra eye on.

Ever since The CW premiered Black Lightning, many fans and even the showrunner have been hoping to see a version of Virgil enter the Arrowverse drama. Barely anything about the theatrical film has been revealed thus far other than that Warner Bros. is committing to bringing Static Shock to life at last. But with Jordan set to produce the movie, Static Shock may be about to proceed a lot faster as they begin looking for a director and, of course, someone to play him.
