Will Crackle ever release Startup season 4? The first three series installments aired between 2016-2018, and the latest episode "Trading Up" ends with the death of a major character. Startup released on Netflix in May 2021, so the series may gain a larger global following and spark renewed interest in season 4.

In Startup season 3, Nick Talman (Adam Brody) and Wes Chandler (Ron Perlman) need Series B funding for their tech company Araknet. Meanwhile, their business partner Ronald Dacey (Edi Gathegi) - a former Miami gangster - considers turning on his colleagues and returning to organized crime, while a former CIA Black Ops operative named Rebecca Stroud (Mira Sorvino) tries to flip Izzy Morales (Otmara Marrero) against Nick and Ronald. Araknet loses over 60 million users because of a mysterious virus in the penultimate episode of the Crackle/Netflix show, which creates major friction between Nick and his investors.

The Startup season 3 finale resolves Araknet's financial struggles, but a random act of violence forces Nick, Ronald, and Izzy to make a life-changing decision. Incidentally, they'll now have to worry even more about government threats while trying to rebuild Araknet. Here's what to expect for Startup season 4.

StartUp Season 4 Renewal

Edi Gathegi as Ronald Dacey in the StartUp Season 3 Finale

StartUp season 4 hasn't officially been greenlit by Crackle. Despite a major delay in production, the series also hasn't been canceled. The official StartUp Twitter account has been inactive since January 2019, presumably because of the COVID-19 pandemic, but the series' Netflix debut should allow producers to better assess the potential moving forward. Expect a renewal or cancellation decision to be made about the show in 2021.

StartUp Season 4 Cast

Mira Sorvino as Rebecca Stroud in the StartUp Season 3 Finale

StartUp season 4 will theoretically include all of the main players, with the exception being Mira Sorvino's Rebecca Stroud. The character was presumably killed in the season 3 finale, and it doesn't seem like there's any chance of bringing her back. StartUp season 4 will probably star Brody, Gathegi, and Marrero once again, with Ron Perlman and Timlin likely to return as well.

StartUp Season 4 Story

StartUp Season 3 Finale

In StartUp season 3, Araknet manages to reach 100 million users, which will allow Talman and the company to receive Series B funding from Saginaw Partners. However, they lose 60 million users because of a virus that was orchestrated by Rebecca, and then stopped by Izzy. The main conflict is mostly resolved when Saginaw needs "fresh blood" to recover from a news scandal, and thus agrees to partner with Araknet thanks to a convincing meeting with Mara and Ronald. StartUp season 3 ends with Nick spontaneously murdering Rebecca, and thus eliminating her as a threat. StartUp season 4 will likely begin with Nick, Ronald, and Izzy renewing their bond as professional colleagues/conspirators, but then eventually reveal that they'll need to look after their best interests individually as the heat from underworld and governmental threats intensify. Timlin's Mara seems to be the narrative wildcard, as she has the means and motivations to make some big moves, which may involve her father Wes instead of her boyfriend Nick.

StartUp Season 4 Release Date

If StartUp season 4 is greenlit by summer 2021, filming could potentially begin later in the year. The series will likely become a streaming hit for Netflix, so don't be surprised if it's acquired from Crackle. With this metric in mind, it seems that StartUp season 4 may release around  2022 on Netflix or Crackle.
