We get that not every star on a TV or movie set is going to be best friends with their castmates, especially when they have to work long hours. Sometimes being in the trenches like that creates a bond between. Other times, they may not feel a connection or a particular closeness, but they respect their fellow performers and remain professional.

Then there are those stars who just can't get along with some of their co-stars and make things worse for everyone involved. It can be about being unprofessional, i.e. showing up late for work, staying too long in their trailers, or never knowing their lines, thus holding up production.

Sometimes, it's the opposite: and actor takes the role very seriously and too intensely, thus annoying everyone else who has to work with them (especially if they are playing anti-social characters) or demanding the other stars measure up.

The celebrities could also gain too much fame too quickly and see their egos grow expontentially, creating a diva-esque environment, or they feel threatened when they think they are supposed to be the star of the show but are somehow upstaged by other cast members. Finally, there are those co-stars who just can't stand each other, pure and simple.

Here are 16 Stars Who Turned All Their Castmates Against Them.

SHANNEN DOHERTY

Cast of 90210

There have been many stories of Shannen Doherty's run-ins with her co-stars through the years, both on her first hit series Beverly Hills, 90210 and later on Charmed.

On 90210, it was reported Doherty had a diva attitude and didn't get along with many of the other cast members, including Jennie Garth, Jason Priestley and Tori Spelling, who admitted later that she did ask her father – the show's producer, Aaron Spelling -- to fire Doherty, who was written off the show in season 4.

Charmed co-star Alyssa Milano also had issues with Doherty's behavior, comparing the atmosphere on the set to being back in “high school.” Doherty abruptly left that show after three seasons and was replaced by Rose McGowan.

Thankfully, Doherty, who has openly shared her battle with cancer since being diagnosed in 2015, has since put her feuds behind her and reconciled with her former co-stars.

CHARLIE SHEEN

Charlie Sheen and the cast of Two and a Half Men

When Charlie Sheen's very public, epic and “winning” meltdown in 2011 became increasingly more erratic, he publicly bashed Two and a Half Men creator Chuck Lorre and Warner Bros. Television, thus alienating himself from the rest of the cast. Clearly, the actor's relationship with his bosses became irreparable, and none of his castmates seem to come to his defense at the time. Sheen was finally replaced on the show by Ashton Kutcher, and Two and a Half Men ran another four seasons.

Sheen also had issues with his Anger Management co-star Selma Blair, who played his onscreen girlfriend. She reportedly talked smack about the actor for his unprofessional behavior on set, and his supposed retaliation was to have her fired. Blair threatened to file a lawsuit for wrongful termination, but things were finally settled. Let's just say, Blair and Sheen will never be friends again.

JAMES FRANCO

Freaks and Geeks

While James Franco has recently been in the news for other unsavory reasons, there was a time he was deemed a tad too intense by his co-stars on Judd Apatow's short-lived cult TV series Freaks and Geeks. As his first real job, Franco took the role as the charismatic burnout Daniel Desario pretty seriously and tended to upstage his actors, which particularly bugged co-stars Busy Philipps and Jason Segel. He even got physical with Phillips at one point.

Franco once admitted to GQ he was kind of a jerk at the time. "I'll admit I was not a team player. A lot of it, I think, just had to do with being obnoxious when the camera was on someone else. Maybe I'd eat a banana in the background that would take focus away from other actors.”

No real harm done, though; he and Freaks co-star Seth Rogen became good friends and frequent collaborators.

DWAYNE JOHNSON

Dwayne-Johnson-Fast-Furious

Dwayne Johnson step in it a bit with his Fast and Furious co-stars. It started in 2016 when The Fate of the Furious was wrapping up, and Johnson called out some of his “male co-stars” for being unprofessional “candya****” in an Instagram post. It was reported that the actor didn't like how Diesel would hold up production by being late. Diesel responded in a cryptic way with a few Facebook posts but then later praised Johnson, so it seemed to smooth out.

Another Fast and Furious co-star, Tyrese Gibson, then started a feud with Johnson late last year when it was announced that the ninth Fast and Furious installment wasn't to be released until 2020, to make way for a spin-off centered on Johnson's character, Luke Hobbs. Gibson took offense that Johnson went solo and delayed F9, but it looks like they are still going to co-star in it together, so we'll see.

KATHERINE HEIGL

Katherine Heigl in Knocked Up

It's a pretty famous Hollywood story at this point, but Katherine Heigl's time on Grey's Anatomy wasn't necessarily smooth. The instant fame she got from the show reportedly went to her head. Then Heigl – having won an Emmy the previous year for her turn as Dr. Izzie Stevens -- withdrew her name from Emmy consideration in 2008 because she said she wasn't given enough “juicy, dramatic material” to warrant a nod, an obvious diss to Grey's creator Shonda Rhimes.

The actress then eventually left the show for a movie career (only to see her movie career fail due to comment she made about Knocked Up), and all this probably alienated her from the other cast members. Heigl has since publicly apologized for her “embarrassing” behavior.

Heigl isn't the only actor on Grey's who caused friction. Isaiah Washington was fired for making a homophobic slur, and Patrick Dempsey also reportedly exhibited diva-like behavior.

NATHAN FILLION

Nathan-Fillion-Castle

Fans of Castle were in shock with news that Stana Katic was leaving the long-running TV show in 2016, with reports saying it was because Katic did not get along with co-star and onscreen love Nathan Fillion.

Sources told Us Weekly at the time that Fillion made Katic's life hell, often leaving her in tears. “Stana would go in her dressing room and cry. A lot of people who work on the show don’t like Nathan. It’s not just her,” an insider told Us. “The friction was very evident. Nathan has been nasty to Stana for a long time. Stana was a pro, just wanted to get in there and do her job.”

The major players have all denied any tension but something must have been up because the show was not renewed for a ninth season after Katic's exit.

KIM CATTRALL

Kim-Cattrall-Sex-City

It seems like Kim Cattrall grew to be at odds with her Sex and the City sisters over the course of the HBO series, especially with Sarah Jessica Parker. The reason? Mostly money.

Long-time rumors the women didn't get along started well into the hit series, and they all naturally denied them over and over, professing only love and respect for each other.

Then late last year, it all reared its ugly head again. Parker expressed disappointment that a third SATC movie was definitely not happening, and reports popped up it was because Cattrall demanded more money and producing credit. Cattrall shot down the reports, saying she never agreed to do a third movie in the first place -- and then told Piers Morgan she thought Parker could have been “nicer” about it and that she was never really friends with her co-stars. Ouch.

 SHIA LABEOUF

Shia-LeBeouf-Fury

You might chalk this one up to taking method acting too far, but Shia LaBeouf sometimes irked his co-stars with his extreme behavior on set.

In the WWII drama Fury, LaBeouf took his role seriously enough to not shower, pull out his real tooth, and cut his own face to make it look real. He alienated himself from the rest of the cast, and he and co-star Brad Pitt got into a fist fight. To be fair, this was a directive made by Fury director David Ayer, to give his actors a way to bond, but still.

LaBeouf also pulled similar stunts on the set of Lawless with co-star Tom Hardy. Playing a moonshine bootlegger, LaBeouf reportedly drank moonshine the whole time and would follow Hardy (who played his character's older brother) around to the point of annoyance. Rumors have it, the two actor came to blows as well.

MIKE MYERS

Mike-Myers-Waynes-World

The stories that actor/comedian Mike Myers was notoriously demanding and difficult to work with basically started on his first hit movie, Wayne's World. To start, Myers reportedly didn't want Dana Carvey to play Wayne's sidekick Garth in the film because he was threatened by Carvey's popularity at that time.

The film's director, Penelope Spheeris, however, told EW that Myers was moody, “emotionally needy” and would go off on just the slightest things, like not having margarine for his bagel, only butter.

Although Myers would go on to more successes with his Austin Powers and Shrek movies, the "difficult" and "control freak" labels followed him, and his career faltered. It's been over nine years since the actor appeared in a movie, but he's got two coming out this year, Terminal and Bohemian Rhapsody.

WILLIAM SHATNER

William-Shatner-Star-Trek

It's not a huge shocker that William Shatner did not get along with some of his Star Trek castmates. The Shakespearean-trained actor was once pretty vocal about his disdain for only being recognized for his portrayal as Capt. James T. Kirk in the original Star Trek series. Naturally, he grew to embrace it, but apparently, while filming the show, he made things difficult.

There was the jealousy thing, with Shatner reportedly resenting the fact Leonard Nimoy's Spock was more popular. The two often clashed over the years but found closure before Nimoy's death in 2015. Nichelle Nichols also almost left the show because of tension with Shatner but ultimately stayed - on the advice from Martin Luther King Jr.

The biggest feud, however, was between Shatner and George Takei, which both have taken public. The two are still at odds to this day.

CHEVY CHASE

Joel McHale and Chevy Chase in Community Christmas

Chevy Chase has long been infamously difficult to work with. Starting with SNL, Chase pretty much irked everyone in that cast, including Bill Murray - who Chase apparently got into a fist fight with. The reputation followed Chase throughout his career and culminated with Chase's stint on Community.

First, the actor clashed with the show's creator, Dan Harmon, who once leaked a pretty venomous voicemail left by Chase, but he was also disliked by his co-stars. Chase's brand of humor was very offputting to his female co-stars, like Yvette Brown and Alison Brie, and Joel McHale admitted they all knew Chase did not want to be there. When he once tried to talk to Chase about it, McHale told Howard Stern, “He would just try to fight me, physically fight me."

It looks like Chase is just concentrating on small movie roles now.

ALEX PETTYFER

Apparently, Alex Pettyfer did nothing to ingratiate himself to the rest of the Magic Mike cast, especially its star, Channing Tatum. This is likely the reason Pettyfer did not make an appearance in the sequel Magic Mike XXL.

Pettyfer later explained why he rubbed Tatum and the others the wrong way, placing much of the blame on himself. On Bret Easton Ellis' podcast, the actor said at the time he was shooting Magic Mike, he had gained a bad-boy reputation and was insecure, so he was standoffish on set. "I did my work and then I sat in the corner and listened to music because I'd been told that anything I do was wrong by my reps... I was genuinely nervous and scared to be myself."

It also didn't help that Pettyfer also stiffed Tatum's friend on rent money, so yeah, it looks like Pettyfer won't be in Tatum's friend circle anytime soon.

DOMINIC MONAGHAN

Dominic-Monaghan-Lost

Sure, Dominic Monaghan played one of Lost's most beloved characters, Charlie, but apparently the actor didn't always have the best experiences on the show. First of all, he started dating his co-star Evangeline Lily, but it didn't work out, and Lily reportedly dumped him. Awkward.

The actor also wasn't all that liked by the show's writers because, as Monaghan once put it, he “always tried to appeal to the writers that [he] thought [Charlie] was an incredibly capable character even though he had all these issues.” So mutually, it was decided Charlie should go, and his death on the show was definitely one of the saddest.

The biggest beef Monaghan had, however, was with co-star Matthew Fox. After he already left the show, the Lord of the Rings actor accused Fox of beating women “often” on Twitter. It was all denied by Fox, but clearly there was some bad blood there.

MICHAEL PITT

Michael-Pitt-Boardwalk-Empire

Actor Michael Pitt couldn't get out of his own way when he starred in the HBO hit show Boardwalk Empire – and it reportedly cost him the job because the cast and crew didn't want to work with him anymore.

The primary reason cited was Pitt's unreliability and combativeness. According to Uproxx.com, a source leaked this about the actor's behavior: "[Pitt was] late a lot (this costs production money), [he had] trouble remembering lines (they had to reshoot an entire scene because he couldn't remember his lines… this costs production money), [was] constantly questioning his character's storyline, tried to change dialogue a lot, would wander from the set, got into a little fist fight with William Forsythe during the Jimmy death scene, etc. They had plans for him…but they pretty much just got tired of him.”

Pitt's character Jimmy was killed off at the end of Season 2.

EDWARD NORTON

Edward-Norton-Hulk

This is more of a case of ticking off a studio. Edward Norton has been deemed a perfectionist in his past work. He has had run-ins with a few of his directors, notably American History X director Tony Kaye, especially after Norton re-cut the 1998 film without Kaye's permission.

It was on the set of 2008 reboot The Incredible Hulk that Norton really got a bad rap. Cast as Bruce Banner, Norton basically did a page-one rewrite of the film with more character development. He wanted to play Banner more nuanced and dig deeper into the scientist's past. Marvel wanted to keep it action-packed, and the two clashed over “creative differences.” Marvel won, of course, and Norton did he best to play nice but as we now know, Mark Ruffalo went on to play Banner in the future Avengers movies.

TERI HATCHER

Teri-Hatcher-Desperate-Housewives

Probably one of the most high-profile Hollywood feuds was between Teri Hatcher and her Desperate Housewives co-stars. To put it simply, it seems like no one liked Hatcher on the show, due mostly to her reported diva behavior on set.

There's the story about the Vanity Fair 2005 cover photo shoot, in which co-stars Marcia Cross and Eva Longoria reportedly threatened to walk off if Hatcher was placed in the center (she ended up on the far left of frame). Then during co-star Nicholette Sheridan's court case against the show's creator, Marc Cherry, he testified that Sheridan once told him Hatcher was the “meanest woman in the world.” Yikes.

The capper was when the women sent everyone who worked on the show a gift after the series ended – and left off Hatcher's name. It may have just been a case of personalities that don't mix.
