[Note: The original official DC Stargirl Teaser video was said to have launched prematurely and has been removed from YouTube for now.]

Stargirl, starring Brec Bassinger as DC Comics' Courtney Whitmore, has officially gotten its first teaser trailer. The DC Universe series was announced by former DC Comics president and CCO Geoff Johns back at San Diego Comic-Con 2018. Despite a previously planned 2019 release date, Stargirl has faced a number of delays and was postponed by DC's streaming service. Production finally began back in March and wrapped in late August, and while the cast has added a major number of actors, more than half of the characters' identities have been shrouded in secrecy.

Even with this year's events such as San Diego Comic-Con and New York Comic Con, both locations where Warner Bros. TV had a clear DC TV presence, the company did not include any Stargirl promotion. Little has been released about the new series lately, with DC seemingly focusing on its other shows. However, since Titans has finished airing its season 2, and with Harley Quinn currently running, Stargirl is set to be the next original series to premiere on DC Universe.

After a long wait, DC Universe has officially unveiled the first teaser trailer for Stargirl on YouTube. No release date was given, but DC Universe promised a "Spring 2020" launch for the Courtney Whitmore project. The teaser (embedded below) offers glimpses at Bassinger with her co-stars Hunter Sansone, Anjelika Washington, and Yvette Monreal respectively. Washington and Monreal's characters have been kept under wraps, but they're confirmed to star as "undisclosed DC characters" while Sansone's character, DC-based or not, is still unknown. The project has been pitched as following a new generation of heroes while also honoring the Justice Society of America, a group Johns has a big history writing for in comics and on-screen.

JSA members such as Starman (Joel McHale), Hourman (Lou Ferrigno Jr.), and Doctor Mid-Nite (Henry Thomas) will appear, among several others. Stargirl will star DC baddies such as Tigress (Joy Osmanski), Sportsmaster (Neil Hopkins), and Dragon King (Nelson Lee) who are members of the Injustice Society. There are still many series regulars and recurring guest stars whose identities haven't been revealed yet, meaning more DC characters could be appearing. Stargirl will also be the second DC Universe original series to have two platforms to air on when it premieres.

The CW revealed last month the network will be the show's second home, with original episodes airing for broadcast viewers one day after its DC Universe release. This follows months after DC Universe renewed Doom Patrol for season 2 through a new deal which allows the series to air simultaneously on the DC Universe platform HBO Max. As far as when fans will be able to see Stargirl in action for real, rumor has it she may be appearing in Crisis on Infinite Earths. No confirmation has been made from The CW or Warner Bros. about any Stargirl participation (yet) in the upcoming 5-hour Arrowverse event, but that surely doesn't mean it won't be happening.
