The CW debuts a new poster for Stargirl season 3, which teases the setup for the massive Frenemies saga that was teased at the end of season 2. While The CW has had a shake-up when it comes to their superhero slate, the network will still be bringing some DC TV content this fall through Stargirl season 3. Originally launched as a DC Universe show, Stargirl follows the adventures of Courtney Whitmore as she discovers the big legacy of the Justice Society of America. As Courtney takes on Starman's legacy by becoming Stargirl, the teenage heroine also revives the Golden Age team with the next generation of superheroes.

In Stargirl season 2, the team took on the villainous Eclipso, who became the darkest DC foe of the series thus far. For Stargirl season 3, the Arrowverse-adjacent series is taking a different direction. Towards the end of Stargirl season 2, which was subtitled Stargirl: Summer School, the series began to set up a new type of storyline that will see heroes having to side with the villains. Dubbed Stargirl: Frenemies for season 3, Courtney and the team will be having to align themselves with some familiar villainous faces that may not be so stuck on the evil side as some had thought.

With Stargirl season 3 coming later this month, The CW has released a brand new poster for their Frenemies saga. Featuring Brec Bassinger as Stargirl herself, the season 3 poster teases to "keep your friend close and your frenemies closer," with multiple TV screens seen behind her. Not only does it feature the members of the Justice Society of America, but also new glimpses at Shiv and potentially a rising villain in Cameron Mahkent. Two of the so-called Frenemies will be the new Stargirl series regulars, Sportsmaster and Tigress, as they have now moved into the house next door, which will undoubtedly cause some tension with the Whitmore-Dugan family. Stargirl season 3 will likely also be the year where the show finally decides once and for all where Cameron, who is the second Icicle in the comics, goes as a character. Since Stargirl season 1, they have been teasing the idea that Cameron would go in the same footsteps as his father, the original Icicle, with his son manifesting the same metahuman powers.

While Stargirl season 3 is locked to premiere this month, it's unclear whether or not this will be the final season for the series. As much as they are setting up, given the many Arrowverse show cancellations this year, it has raised concerns whether or not Stargirl: Frenemies may be the final saga of the series. Ideally, The CW will announce before Stargirl season 3 premieres if this is really the last season. Naturally, they may also be waiting to see how the series performs before deciding on a potential Stargirl season 4, which would air in the 2023-2024 TV season.
