Comic book characters and memes go together like peanut butter and jelly, so Stargirl memes were inevitable. DC's superhero show, based on the comic book series Stars and S.T.R.I.P.E, sees teenager Courtney Whitmore stumble into a new life as superhero Stargirl, aided and occasionally hindered by her stepdad and new sidekick, Pat aka Stripesy.

With a teenage cast matching up against adult rivals, the show offers viewers a unique dynamic. It also gives us many memeable moments. Here we take a look at the very best Stargirl memes that helped ease the wait for season two.

The Arrowverse Is Confusing

Spongebob explaining meme saying Stargirl is in the DCEU, Has been in an Arrowverse show but is totally seperate.

Stargirl is part of the DC Multiverse. However, the show isn't part of the Arrowverse, at least not yet. This is despite the fact that Stargirl first appeared in an Arrowverse show.

This is because the current Stargirl's world came into existence after the events of the Arrowverse's Crisis On Infinite Earth replaced the previous Earth-2 with the Earth-2 she resides on. While this means she's in the same universe, she isn't classed as being in the Arrowverse until the show crosses over with another Arrowverse series.

DC Hates Movies

Diablo "dont you have phones" guy from Blizzcon with a DC logo on his face saying "don't you watch tv?"

All fans of DC heroes want is a movie series to rival the MCU. While Marvel has mastered the movie format, DC has launched a series of hit and miss titles that have often left fans feeling unsatisfied. More recently these have turned into TV shows that seem to just keep coming.

Stargirl is just the latest TV show, and while DC fans are enjoying this version of Stargirl, they still live in hope that one day DC will pull off its very own string of cinematic hits.

S.H.I.E.L.D's New Rival

Stargirl with her staff and the line "agent of S.P.E.A.R."

When the Marvel universe has Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. fans have seemingly decided that Stargirl should be the one to head up a new DC equivalent, Agents of S.P.E.A.R. Thanks to the powerful staff that gives her powers the name writes itself.

We know that S.H.I.E.L.D stands for Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement, and Logistics Division but what would S.P.E.A.R. stand for? All we know is that it's not wise to let Courtney decide, not after the whole "Pat Enhancer" debacle.

 Independence Day Celebrations Need Extending

Stargirl comic book version with the text It's the 4th of July, but people only talk about Captain America.

On July 4, American's celebrate everything about the stars and stripes as Independence Day rolls around. However, in terms of superheroes, Captain America always hogs the spotlight. His patriotic costume dominates and people seem to forget that other heroes wear the flag as well.

Stargirl's costume is every bit as patriotic as Captain America's and we'd love to see her acknowledged in posts about the day. With the show's success, we live in hope that next year July 4 will be more inclusive.

Prepare Yourself

Text saying the poster remembers fans will be watching Brainwave Jr for the first time then a windows style icon saying Suffer.

Brainwave Jr. is one of the most emotional episodes in the series. It's an absolute rollercoaster with secrets being spilled left, right and center. Not only does Barbara discover the truth about Courtney, Pat, and the JSA but she also has to face some revelations about her boss.

Brainwave is now awake, thanks to Henry's full-formed powers, and over the course of the episode, Henry discovers some truths about his parents. The episode ends with a shock as Henry confronts his father, leading to unexpected consequences.

Brainwave Logic

Brainwave with the text "says people are monsters and tells his son not to steal. Has no problem killing his wife and son when they get in his way."

Brainwave is a law unto himself. The original plan of the injustice league was to fight injustice. They wanted to train people to believe the best of others, to stamp out racism, sexism, and homophobia. After hearing people's thoughts Brainwave is convinced that greed, selfishness, and bigotry are to blame for the world's problems.

While this all seems very noble it all falls apart when it comes to his own family. He reprimands his son for stealing, but then we discover that he is capable of the cold-blooded murders of his nearest and dearest.

The Worst Headache

Types of headaches but the last example is Jordon Mahkent.

Jordan Mahkent is a true headache, mostly caused by trying to figure him out. He seems to have overwhelmingly good intentions, yet his judgment is clouded by others. On one hand, he has done so much for the area, yet he's willing to commit mass-murder?

Icicle is frosty one minute and cools the next. We can never get a handle on him and it hurts our head just trying to figure out which side he's on, what his next move will be, and if he really cares for others, especially Barbara.

Hourman Channels Inigo Montoya

Inigo Montoya and his "You kill my father... " line. Inigo is replaced with Rick Tyler.

Rick Tyler has spent the majority of his life living with his uncle who resents being left caring for him and believing that his parents died in a car accident. After discovering that they were superheroes, killed By Solomon Grundy, he sets out for revenge.

As the new Hourman, Rick's entire journey echoes Inigo Montoya from The Princess Bride as he seeks nothing but revenge for the murder of his parents.

How About I Just Ignore You

Jurer with hand hand up labelled as Pat saying "why don't we not recruit more JSA members. Bottom panel has Morgan Freeman labelled as Courtney doing a wtf face.

If there's one thing we know about Pat, it's that he's cautious. He's spent years trying to trace the last members of the Injustice Society and find out what happened to them. Rushing things isn't his way. However, now he's up against Courtney who is the polar opposite.

As Pat is preaching caution, Courtney is recruiting high school students to step into the shoes of the superheroes of days gone by. This meme perfectly echoes Courtney's reaction to the suggestion that slowing down might be wise.

Stargirl's Evolution

Stargirl at home meme with new Stargirl and Smallville version.

The funny thing about this meme is that for fans of Stargirl who haven't seen Smallville, the picture on the right screams cosplayer. From the hoodie style jacket to the fact she looks much older than 15, everything about it screams "budget Stargirl."

However, it's actually Smallville's version of the character from 2010. Britt Irvin, the actress pictured here, was only 26 at the time this was taken but somehow the costume manages to make her look older if anything, instead of younger. We're just glad they've finally got the budget to give Star Girl an outfit that doesn't look like it was made in a high school textiles class, even though it was, kind of.
