In a recent press conference for DC's Stargirl, actor Luke Wilson revealed that he never understood Marvel's Loki series, despite his brother Owen Wilson's major role in the show. The brothers have been acting together since 1996's Bottle Rocket, their first of many collaborations with writer/director, Wes Anderson. Since then, they have starred together in a handful of projects including 2001's Academy Award-winning The Royal Tenenbaums, and 2001's not-so-successful Behind Enemy Lines.

In the MCU, Owen plays Agent Mobius, an analyst for the mysterious Time Variance Authority. Loki has already been renewed for season 2 at Disney+, with Owen likely to return as Mobius. The bureaucratic TVA agent quickly became a fan favorite MCU character, known for his endless knowledge of Lokis and his love for jet-skis. Luke, on the other hand, stars as Pat Dugan in DC's Stargirl as former sidekick to Justice Society of America superhero, Starman.

As reported by Entertainment Weeklywhile attending a virtual press conference for Stargirl, Luke told reporters that he never fully understood the plot of Marvel's Loki series. While he admitted to having had the show explained to him multiple times to no avail, he did praise the Disney+ series, saying "they made a great show." He also added that Owen "had a great time" filming the series, and that he "really enjoyed working with Tom Hiddleston." Luke's full quote can be read below:

“I had it explained to me a number of times. Never got the plot of it. But no, we actually did get to live together for a little over a month and it was actually very fun and yeah it was funny for me to be working for DC and doing a superhero show and then Owen was playing this character Mobius on Loki.”

The brothers lived together in Atlanta while Luke was filming season 2 of his CW superhero series at the same time Owen was filming Loki. According to Luke, there was no sense of sibling rivalry, even after the brothers joined two competing superhero franchises. While he says there was no MCU/DC rivalry in the family, he did claim that Owen's sons watch both shows. But according to Luke, "I feel like I detected a little more enthusiasm for Stargirl but I don't know, I might just have been projecting that."

Luke and Owen working in rival property franchises while also living together is certainly a unique situation. That also makes it funnier and a bit surprising that Luke has no idea what's going on in his brother's show, which happens to be a huge hit. Perhaps Luke should get the same "Loki lecture" that Tom Hiddleston gave Owen before the series launched on Disney+.

Stargirl season 2 premieres on the CW on Tuesday, August 10th.
