ConcernedApe, the creator of Stardew Valley, recently announced a new teaser for the game's 1.5 update. The beloved indie game was first released February 2016, and continues to provide updates and new content for fans that have purchased the pixelated farming simulator. The latest teaser features two players in a potential new area with one sitting in a chair and the other fishing in water that is submerging the base of trees. Wild ducks are shown in the water and on the shoreline. How will this update ultimately affect gameplay?

The 1.4 update for Stardew Valley introduced a plethora of new content, including 14-heart events for spouses, 24 new hairstyles, fish ponds for breeding fish, and much more. The sole creator 0f Stardew Valley, whose real name is Eric Barone, continues to work on a game that keeps on giving. Feeling personally responsible for every aspect of Stardew Valley, Barone not only strives for new content, but fixes bugs as issues arise. With so much added in the previous update to Stardew Valley, fans are likely to see more significant amount of changes in the new one.

This isn't the first time Barone has shared hints of what he's adding to the game. Other teasers for the new update include banana trees, a door behind Willy in the Fish Shop, the ability to move the player's bed, and new end-game content. Sharing this news via Twitter, fans are already speculating on what this could mean for Stardew Valley. Here's a look at how these new features could impact the game.

Stardew Valley: What Could Change With The 1.5 Update

Earlier this year, Barone made a poll for desired new trees and announced banana trees will eventually be introduced in Stardew Valley. In July, a new teaser — the door behind Willy — appeared, likely meaning players can explore the angler's sleeping quarters. Since this announcement also mentions "a significant new piece of end-game content," fans are wondering if Pelican Town's fishing enthusiast could be a new marriage candidate. Because players can enter other non-marriageable NPC bedrooms, it's possible this may not be the case, but nothing has been confirmed. There may be something found behind that door that could spark a new questline. The 2nd teaser for Stardew Valley's 1.5 update was announced in August. It states that players will be able to move their beds. This will make customizing the interior of the farmhouse more unique, and it's assumed that the children's beds can also be moved.

Finally, on September 4th, 2020, the latest teaser picture shows 3 novel key changes: sitting in chairs, trees in water, and ducks outside of the farm. There is plenty of sitting furniture in Stardew Valley, and players can soon utilize them. What's more exciting is that most furniture could not previously be placed outside of the farm. Being able to put chairs and potentially more items out in the open could mean huge customization changes within Pelican Town. Like being able to decorate one's island in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, fans of Stardew Valley will likely be able to make Pelican Town as distinctive as their house interiors. The trees in water either indicate flooding within the game or a new area to explore. The later is more plausible as the teaser photo doesn't look like a familiar area. It seems unlikely that players can chop down these submerged trees unless swimming is introduced, but they may be able to fish for a specific species that prefer arboreal covering.

As for the ducks, its nice to see more farm animals getting some fresh air out in the open. While this may only be an aesthetic change, perhaps these ducks could lay wild eggs. Maybe wild ducks will still produce eggs without having to be fed or sheltered on the farm. Considering the vast amount of changes that came with the last update, players can expect lots of fun new content. If the pattern continues, its possible fans will see a new teaser in early October. Outside of Stardew Valley, Barone is also working on 2 new games, so it could be some time before the 1.5 update comes out.
