The major 1.5 update for popular farming simulator Stardew Valley may possibly be released for consoles by the end of January, according to its developer. The 1.5 update for Stardew Valley, its biggest yet, was initially announced near the start of the year and was finally released on PC last week on December 21, 2020, soon after the developer responded to fans asking whether the update would still release for PC before the year ends, with an estimated release date for consoles early next year.

Update 1.5 is said to be the biggest update Stardew Valley has received yet, with a ton of new content and features added. One of the biggest additions that update 1.5 has introduced is a brand new area called Ginger Island, which adds a whole slew of new content for players to experience including new locations, NPCs, quests, enemies, a new dungeon, and a lot more. Other additions that update 1.5 introduced include a new beach farm layout, new home renovation options, new features, new game options, and more.

Stardew Valley’s creator and sole developer Eric Barone (AKA ConcernedApe) posted a Tweet announcing that the 1.5 update could come to consoles by the end of January, although that’s something he can’t guarantee as of yet. He also mentioned that there’s no estimated release date yet for the update on mobile platforms. As with previous updates for Stardew Valley, update 1.5 was released for PC first and will be followed by the console and mobile releases, respectively.

The disparity with the release of updates for Stardew Valley between PC and other platforms could mainly be due to the large differences in their initial release dates. The game was initially launched on PC back in early 2016 with the PS4 and Xbox One release coming out at the end of that year. The Nintendo Switch version was then released almost a year after in 2018 and the mobile versions were released much later than that.

It’s still pretty amazing to see how much there is to already experience in Stardew Valley and how much the developer is still able to churn out in spite of it being a mostly solo project, although Barone has mentioned that for update 1.4 and update 1.5, they’ve gotten help to work on the updates. Fans of Stardew Valley on consoles will definitely have a lot to look forward to when the 1.5 update finally goes live on their respective platforms. Here’s to hoping the update comes out sooner rather than later.
