Fans of the farming simulator Stardew Valley were given a surprise this week with the release of the anticipated 1.5 update for PC. While other consoles won't see the update until after the new year begins, players can start a new save on their computers and explore everything new right away. The Stardew Valley 1.5 update includes a variety of expansions, including a new beach-themed farm map, new areas to unlock, and plenty of brand new enemy types to face.

Players will gain access to a new dungeon in Stardew Valley's 1.5 update, giving them a third area to battle monsters for loot and find treasures to bring home. The new location is inside a volcano, and much like Skull Cavern and the Mines, the level changes every time the player enters. The new jungle island offers players a number of difficult obstacles and puzzles to keep them busy, so visiting the Volcano is jut one of many things to do there.

With the new dungeon also come new enemies. These monsters are both in the Volcano dungeon and appear in the more advanced levels of the Mine if toggled on later in the game. Currently, not much is known about these Stardew Valley monsters other than their names, but hopefully these enemies will drop impressive loot that is worth the challenge of battling them.

  • Spider
  • Putrid Ghost
  • Blue Squid

Thanks to the Stardew Valley 1.5 update, these new enemies and challenge options will help improve late-game content and offer long-term players new obstacles to overcome without the need for developers to make a Stardew Valley 2. Stardew Valley has continued to adapt and to receive new content on top of the original base game, despite being nearly five years old. The steady updates have encouraged players to stay interested in the title and have allowed the game to continue enjoying a top place among some of the most popular games of its genre.
