Although there’s been a recent disturbance in the Force with reports of reshoots and delays, Star Wars fans are excited for Obi-Wan Kenobi’s upcoming Disney+ series. Ewan McGregor is reprising his role as the iconic Jedi Master in the series, which will take place between the events of Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope, and The Mandalorian’s Deborah Chow is attached to direct every single episode.

There’s a lot of ground for the series to cover in the years that Obi-Wan spent in exile on Tatooine. Here are 10 Things We Hope To See In Obi-Wan’s Disney+ Series.

Eight-Year-Old Luke Skywalker

Obi-Wan’s new Disney+ series will be set eight years after Revenge of the Sith, meaning that Luke will be eight years old. Luke and Obi-Wan already had an established relationship, a la Doc and Marty, in A New Hope.

It’s unclear how young Luke was when Obi-Wan became involved in his life, but it would be interesting to see Obi-Wan keeping a watchful eye over an eight-year-old Luke. We could even see him bullseye womp rats in his T-16.

Visiting Yoda On Dagobah

Yoda lifts Luke's X-wing from the Dagobah Swamp in The Empire Strikes Back

When Obi-Wan and Yoda were the only two Jedi left alive after the Great Jedi Purge, Obi-Wan exiled himself to Tatooine and Yoda exiled himself to Dagobah. Years later, when it was time for Luke Skywalker to train under the tutelage of Yoda, Obi-Wan knew to find him on Dagobah.

Between the prequel and original trilogies, it makes sense that the two kept in touch, especially since they can communicate via the Force and organize a good time to visit each other. Seeing the two pair up in the new Disney+ series would be a lot of fun.

A Live-Action Rematch With Darth Maul

We’ve seen rematches between Obi-Wan and Darth Maul in animated form, but never in a live-action project — and never with Ewan McGregor reprising his role as Obi-Wan and Ray Park reprising his role as Maul.

Disney reintroduced the idea that Maul is still alive and kicking with his cameo appearance at the end of Solo: A Star Wars Story as the evil overlord who had Qi’ra on the hook, so they’re clearly interested in exploring the character. Maul killed Qui-Gon and survived; Obi-Wan deserves another chance to take him down.

Mace Windu

Samuel L. Jackson once went to George Lucas and proposed that Mace Windu survived Palpatine’s Force lightning and his fall from the window on Coruscant, and Lucas said that could be canon, and just like that, it became canon.

Jackson has been very insistent that he’d be happy to return to the role of Windu, and Star Wars fans would be ecstatic to see that happen, so why not have a team-up between Obi-Wan and Windu in this new series? It could be a one-off adventure-of-the-week thing, like Ranzar Malk’s appearance in The Mandalorian.

Protecting Leia

Obi-Wan might have stayed on Tatooine to ensure Luke’s safety, but Leia’s message on R2-D2’s hard drive suggested that she knew him. At the very least, she was familiar with him. A threat to Leia’s life on Alderaan might be deemed important enough for Obi-Wan to briefly leave Luke unprotected to fly over there and deal with it.

Jimmy Smits could return as Bail Organa, and an eight-year-old kid could be cast to play Leia as a young princess living an idyllic life on Alderaan while her adoptive father helps to establish the Rebel Alliance.

Clashing With Uncle Owen

In Revenge of the Sith, Obi-Wan leaves Luke with Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru and they seem to have an amicable relationship. However, in A New Hope, Owen objects to Luke hanging out with Obi-Wan and calls him “a crazy old wizard.”

At some point between these two stories, Owen turned against Obi-Wan. This upcoming Disney+ series has an opportunity to explore what caused this to happen, and how it affected Obi-Wan’s visitation with Luke.

Searching For Surviving Jedi

Palpatine tells Commander Cody to execute Order 66 in Star Wars Revenge of the Sith

As a Jedi living under the rule of an emperor whose first order of business was to kill all the Jedi, Obi-Wan needs to keep a low profile when the Disney+ series catches up with him. But at the end of the day, he’s a hero.

If there’s any chance that there are Jedi out there who survived Order 66 and are on the run from the Empire, he’ll go out there and look for them. In Obi-Wan’s new series, he should scour the galaxy for surviving Jedi Knights.

Boba Fett

In Attack of the Clones, a young Boba Fett rode shotgun with his dad while he pursued Obi-Wan through space. Obi-Wan managed to evade Jango by landing on an asteroid. This is how Boba manages to find the Falcon when Han Solo uses the same trick in The Empire Strikes Back.

There’s a good chance that Darth Vader looked for Obi-Wan following the events of Revenge of the Sith, so it’s likely that he would send Boba Fett — his top choice for anything bounty-related — to find him.

Communicating With Qui-Gon’s Force Ghost

In Revenge of the Sith, Yoda insinuated to Obi-Wan that Qui-Gon Jinn had returned from the grave as a Force ghost, and promised to teach him how to communicate with his old master. To pay this off, Obi-Wan should communicate with Qui-Gon’s Force ghost in this new show.

Liam Neeson has played Qui-Gon in The Clone Wars and Rebels, so he’s clearly happy to return to the role if a story calls for it. Ewan McGregor had terrific chemistry with Neeson in The Phantom Menace, and it was always a shame that we only got one movie to explore that.

An Encounter With Darth Vader

Darth Vader Final Scene from Rogue One A Star Wars Story

Obi-Wan can’t draw too much attention to himself in this series, or he’ll become a target of the Empire, get hunted down, and his quiet exile on Tatooine in the original trilogy will have to be retconned or it won’t make sense. Still, it would be great to see Obi-Wan encounter Darth Vader at some point in this new series.

As it stands, Obi-Wan and Anakin’s friendship ends with the breathtaking Mustafar lightsaber duel, and their next meeting is the awkward, slow-moving, primitive duel on the Death Star that ends with Obi-Wan’s death. This new series can fill in this gap in their arc as a duo.
