Despite the fact there have only been three video games with single-player campaigns since 2013, these stories have added a lot of value and brilliance to the Star Wars canon. To tie in with the canon, the developers have created some enjoyable stories and several amazing characters, a few of whom challenge the quality of characters from the variety of Legends video games.

In fact, Battlefront 2 Squadrons, and Jedi: Fallen Order have so many fun and interesting characters, they are hoping they will pop up again in the near future. But which ones would gamers say stood out the most?

Greez Dritus

Greez speaks to Cal on the Mantis in Jedi Fallen Order

There are many great side characters in Jedi: Fallen Order, such as Talon Malicos and Jaro Tapal. However, the pilot of the Mantis, Greez Dritus, is perhaps an underrated key character in the game.

As well as a great vocal performance and character design, the Latero has many funny moments throughout the campaign with Cal and Cere (such as his vocal distaste for traveling to planets like Dathomir and his fear of Merrin). He also has his own little arc in the game, eventually opening up and viewing his crewmates as a family. The stubborn, grumpy character is a solid reason as to why many Star Wars fans believe this to be the best canon video game so far.

Shriv Suurgav

The likes of Del Meeko and Garrick Versio impressed players in the Battlefront 2 campaign due to their roles in Iden's story and their contrasting journey's in the rebellion and Empire. However, the Duros rebel, Shriv, was the game's most talked-about character.

Shriv was just a joy to watch and play with. He stole the screen in every cutscene he was involved in, being hilarious, sarcastic, cynical, and just brilliant. He also has a good story in the Star Wars canon as he moved from the rebellion to the Resistance and was a part of many crucial missions.

Keo Venzee

Star Wars: Squadrons allows the player to talk with the members of both Vanguard Squadron and Titan Squadron, resulting in some fascinating conversations. However, the ones that are particularly interesting are the ones with Keo Venzee, arguably the best member of Vanguard Squadron.

Throughout conversations with Keo, fans are given an insight into their attunement to the Force, as well as their career as a starship racer. While the other characters of Vanguard are intriguing, Keo is a character fans want to see more of - perhaps even in the upcoming Rogue Squadron film fans are excited about - who shone throughout every conversation players had with them.

Shen

Like Vanguard, Titan Squadron has its share of interesting characters, such as Varko Grey and Terrisa Kerril. Still, the intimidating and almost Darth Vader-esque Shen was the character on fans' minds after the campaign.

After numerous crashes, Shen was forced to undergo many cybernetic surgeries. In-flight for the Empire, he broke his neck numerous times, lost vertebrae, and had a serious lust for vengeance for Anvil Squadron. His more-machine-than-man presence and his determination to fight for the Empire added a lot to his character, making him one of the best characters to appear in Squadrons outside of Hera Syndulla.

Iden Versio

Star Wars Battlefront II EA Janina Gavankar as Iden Versio Inferno Squad Imperial

Despite complaints of the defection aspect of the Battlefront II campaign, Iden Versio is a standout aspect of the entire game. She is consistently badass throughout the campaign as both an Imperial and a rebel.

Not only is she fun to play as, but with the combination of Janina Gavankar's performance and the collection of side characters helping out, her story is enjoyable. While there could be more focus on her defecting from the Empire to the rebellion, that does not stop her from being incredibly entertaining in both roles. She is fondly remembered as a great main who only gets better over time.

Cere Junda

Cere Junda has a fascinating life story as a former Jedi who cut herself off from the Force. She is also a crucial part of Cal Kestis' story and to player's enjoyment of Jedi: Fallen Order's campaign.

At first, it is easy to dislike Cere. However, as the game progresses and her character develops, she becomes an undeniably great figure. Her past experiences and her fall from being a Jedi make her vulnerable, admirable, and even inspirational. Her story with Trilla is also a highlight of the game.

Cal Kestis

There are definitely some reasonable complaints about Cal Kestis' overall character through Jedi: Fallen Order, being quite a run-of-the-mill protagonist for a lot of the game. However, as the campaign goes on, he just gets better.

The flashbacks in the game give him a great backstory regarding Order 66 and his Jedi Master, and seeing how he survived after the fall of the Jedi Order added to his character too. At the end of the game, his character really grew into an immensely likable Jedi with his own personality and skills. There's certainly still a lot of potential to explore here.

BD-1

Cal Kestis meets BD-1 in Jedi Fallen Order

Lovable droid companions have been a mainstay in Star Wars since the franchise's inception. BD-1 continued the trend wonderfully as a droid that is a lot more than just an adorable presence, he saves the day throughout the campaign.

BeeDee's past with Eno Cordova actually adds a bit of substance to the droid, and as his relationship blossoms with Cal, both characters are made better. BeeDee is incredibly helpful throughout the game, both in his exploration and in his helping Cal survive against the likes of the Second Sister.

Nightsister Merrin

Merrin decides to go with Cal Kestis Jedi Fallen Order

Arguably the biggest shock in Jedi: Fallen Order character-wise is Merrin, a Nightsister who has suffered a lot on Dathomir and has a lot of distrust towards Cal when they first meet.

On top of another just impeccable character design, Merrin is an overall wonderful character. She grows in the game and has such a warmth about her. Her growing trust and relationship with Cal is a joy to watch unfold, and that is an aspect of the game fans are desperate to see unfold further in the future sequels of the game.

The Second Sister/Trilla Suduri

Cal Kestis confronts the Second Sister in Jedi Fallen Order

Depending on personal preference, any of Cere, Cal, BD-1, Merrin, and Trilla could really be considered the best character in Jedi: Fallen Order and in canon video game stories overall. There is no doubting, though, that Trilla is a truly exceptional part of the game.

The Inquisitorius are always great to see, but none have been as fleshed out as much as Trilla is in Fallen Order. Powerful, threatening, and often torn between the dark and light sides throughout the game, every interaction with the Second Sister is phenomenal. Her dynamics with Cal and Cere are brilliant, and her final scene in the game is goosebump-inducing. A terrifically designed and superbly executed character.
