10 shows are still in the pipeline for the Star Wars franchise after Obi-Wan Kenobi. Starring Ewan McGregor as the titular Jedi Knight, the six-episode Disney+ series served as Star Wars’ third live-action show. It was also the franchise’s first major installment of the year, with at least a few more to come in 2022.
In exploring the years that followed Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith, Obi-Wan Kenobi has provided some deep insight into what was going on with Obi-Wan, Princess Leia, and Darth Vader prior to the beginning of A New Hope. And though the timeline of events puts a limit on what Star Wars can do with these characters, Obi-Wan Kenobi’s six-episode story has only explored a small chapter in their lives, thus making it possible for Disney and Lucasfilm to continue his journey. But for now, the status of Obi-Wan Kenobi season 2 remains unconfirmed. In the meantime, Star Wars has quite a few shows left on its current slate.
With or without Obi-Wan Kenobi season 2, audiences have much to look forward to in 2022 and 2023. As things stand, Lucasfilm’s Star Wars plans include a combination of live-action and animated shows. Here’s every show set in the franchise releasing after Obi-Wan Kenobi and what’s known about their respective stories and release dates.
Andor
The next Star Wars series hitting the streaming service in 2022 is Andor. Premiering on August 31, the show's 12-episode first-season follows the story of Cassian Andor, one of the protagonists featured in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Set before the events of the movie, Andor will see Diego Luna reprise his role as the Rebel spy devoted to taking down the Empire. Whereas Rogue One saw the character in the midst of his fight against the Empire, Andor will dive into the events that made him such an important asset to the Rebels. In addition to Cassian, Andor will bring back Saw Gerrera (Forest Whitaker) and Mon Mothma (Genevieve O'Reilly), who both played roles in Rogue One.
Star Wars: The Bad Batch Season 2
September 28, 2022 will see the long-awaited return of Disney+'s Star Wars: The Bad Batch. Centered on a squad of rogue clone troopers all voiced by Dee Bradley Baker, The Bad Batch will continue their exploits in the Star Wars franchise while also featuring some returning franchise characters, such as Commander Cody. But arguably one the show's most interesting additions is Gungi, a Wookie Jedi Youngling who managed to survive Order 66 during the timeframe of Revenge of the Sith.
Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi
Targeting a late 2022 release, Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi is an animated anthology series that will revolve around the two different paths that can be taken one with the Force. These are of course the dark and light sides of the Force. One of the two main stories in the show will explore Ahsoka's early life, while the other will cover Count Dooku's transformation into a villain. Comprised of six episodes, Tales of the Jedi will incorporate appearances from Qui-Gon Jinn (who trained under Count Dooku as a padawan), Mace Windu, Anakin Skywalker, and more.
The Mandalorian Season 3
Considering that the last season wrapped up in December 2020, it's been a rather long wait for The Mandalorian's return. Following an unexpected continuation of Mando and Baby Yoda's stories in The Book of Boba Fett, both character will be together again when the show comes back in February 2023. Presumably, Mando's next arc will relate to The Book of Boba Fett's setup, which explained that the character has to go to Mandalore if he has any hopes of winning back his lost status as a Mandalorian. Bo-Katan, Greef Karga, the Armorer, and Moff Gideon will all be hand for the show's next chapter.
Young Jedi Adventures
Slated to arrive on both Disney+ and Disney Junior in the spring of 2023, Young Jedi Adventures is an animated TV series targeted at preschool-age children. The show will follow a group of Younglings learning how to use the Force at the Jedi Temple. Since the series is set in the High Republic, it's likely that the show will take place before the prequel trilogy. That being said, the potential still exists for it to use major members of the Jedi Order, such as Yoda, Mace Windu, and Qui-Gon Jinn.
Ahsoka
Rosario Dawson's guest appearances in The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett were just the beginning of Ahsoka Tano's live-action story in the Star Wars franchise. The fan-favorite Star Wars: The Clone Wars character will headline her own show in 2023. When she returns, she'll be joined by a handful of existing Star Wars characters. By featuring Hayden Christensen as Darth Vader, Ahsoka will get a chance to further explore her relationship with her mentor-turned-enemy. Plus, she'll be crossing paths with live-action versions of at least three Star Wars: Rebels characters, including Sabine Wren, Hera Syndulla, and Chopper. Natasha Liu Bordizzo has been cast as the show's take on Sabine. Admiral Thrawn could show up as well, especially since The Mandalorian hinted at him being on her radar.
Star Wars: Skeleton Crew
Starring Jude Law as an undisclosed character, Star Wars: Skeleton Crew is one of the most mysterious projects currently in the works at Lucasfilm. Very little is known about the story, though it has been confirmed that the series will hinge on the stories of several young children trying to find their way home somewhere in the Star Wars universe. Created by Jon Watts, the director of the MCU's Spider-Man movies, Skeleton Crew will take place after the Empire's defeat at the end of the original trilogy.
The Acolyte
Amandla Stenberg will join the Star Wars universe as a new character named Aura in Disney+'s The Acolyte show. Aura's journey will be set one hundred years before the prequel trilogy, though exactly who she is and what she'll be up against remains unclear for the time being. According to The Acloyte creator Leslye Headland, the show will help set up the political landscape featured in the prequels. Since 2023 is already offering three live-action Star Wars shows, a 2024 release date for The Acolyte feels likely.
Lando
It was announced in December 2020 that Star Wars icon Lando Calrissian was getting the TV show spinoff treatment. However, there haven't been any significant updates on the show's progress since then. Recently, Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy explained that the lack of developments with Lando stems from Donald Glover's busy schedule. Apparently, the plan was to focus on the younger version of the character as seen in Solo: A Star Wars Story, as opposed to the one played by Billy Dee Williams in the original movies and Star Wars: Rise of Skywalker. The problem facing Lando right now is the number of projects Glover has been involved with as of late. For now, Lando is still believed to be in development, but it's hard to say if and when the show will finally enter into production.
