Disney outlines an official Star Wars TV plan in a new magazine article. When the Mouse House acquired Lucasfilm back in 2012, they immediately began work on a fresh Star Wars movie slate, producing the Skywalker saga's sequel trilogy and two spinoff features. Following the release of 2019's Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, Disney put the Star Wars films on hiatus and have shifted gears to television. Disney+ has become the home for these Star Wars series, including The MandalorianThe Book of Boba Fett, and this month's Obi-Wan Kenobi.

Lucasfilm has a number of other shows in various stages of development. In addition to The Mandalorian season 3, the studio is also working on Rogue One prequel AndorMandalorian spinoff Ahsoka, and the High Republic-set The Acolyte. In typical fashion, official details for these series are hard to come by, as Lucasfilm and their creatives are keeping things under wraps. But now, there seems to be a solid road map in place for when audiences will get to see these projects.

In a massive Vanity Fair spread covering Star Wars' future on TV, information regarding release windows was shared. After Obi-Wan Kenobi premieres in late May, Andor will follow suit at an unspecified point this summer. The Mandalorian season 3 debuts in either late 2022 or early 2023. Ahsoka comes out in 2023, while The Acolyte is said to be "slightly further off." There's also another series in development going by the working title Grammar Rodeo, which is set after Return of the Jedi and is described as Star Wars' take on "Amblin coming of age adventure films." It's created by Jon Watts.

These updates line up with previous reports about the shows' possible release dates. Andor has been said to come out in August, while word was The Mandalorian season 3 would arrive in late 2022 (perhaps during the holidays). Ahsoka only started filming, so a 2023 premiere for that show makes sense. There's still a lot of work to be done there. It will be interesting to see what details (such as exact release dates) are revealed during Star Wars Celebration next week. The convention features a Lucasfilm Studio Showcase panel featuring appearances from live-action filmmakers, so it sounds like there will be more updates (and maybe even footage) during the event. There should at least be a first look at Andor if that series is coming in the summer.

The lack of an estimated window for The Acolyte could mean it won't arrive until 2024. However, that show has been making progress with Amandla Stenberg reportedly cast in the lead role, and calls going out for other characters. Depending on how things play out, The Acolyte might show up in late 2023 (all the scripts are written). Perhaps some time at Celebration will be dedicated to The Acolyte, bringing viewers up to speed with the High Republic era. As for Grammar Rodeo, the fact it doesn't have an official title indicates how far off it is, but it should be interesting to see what Spider-Man: No Way Home director Watts came up with. The MCU's Spider-Man films were praised for being heartfelt and funny coming of age stories for young Peter Parker, so perhaps he can work that magic with Star Wars.
