Star Wars: Tie Fighter Comic Makes Villains of The Rebels

Star Wars TIE Fighter Comic Preview

Most Star Wars fans won't be used to seeing Imperials treated as the hero, but in the brand new Tie Fighter comic it's the Rebels who are dealing in the kind of deceit and dishonor usually reserved for a more villainous force. But then, not every soldier of the Empire is loyal enough to agree...

The pitch of this series alone is sure to ruffle some feathers, with Star Wars: Tie Fighter shifting the audience's perspective to that of the Imperial pilots. But in just the first issue, the switch made perfect sense. Forget the high-level politics or the ancient feuds between the Jedi and the Sith: the pilots of the Empire have lost friends and loved ones in combat to the ace shooters of the Rebel Alliance. Just because the civil war is entering its final days, that doesn't mean pilots on either side are going to surrender first.

Our preview of Star Wars: Tie Fighter #2 picks up right where the previous issue cliffhanger left off, with the hero pilots of Shadow Wing escorting their cruiser into a silent system. A fellow Star Destroyer jamming their long range comms, and dropping the cruiser's shield with an ion blast is about the last thing they intended to find. And as the ship signaled the entire group to surrender, sending multiple squadrons of TIE Fighters out to take on Shadow Wing... the story was put on hold.

Until now. Take a look at the preview pages below:

One great cliffhanger deserves another, as the enemy Star Destroyer--presumably piloted by a small army of Rebel invaders--fires upon Shadow Wing's own un-shielded cruiser, the destruction of the ship seems inevitable. But what will Commander Broosh and the rest of Shadow Wing do if their cruiser is blown to bits, stranding them in an overwhelmingly imbalanced dogfight? And just who is commanding the Celerity and the many TIE Fighters pouring out of her?

The answers to those questions will have to wait until the full issue arrives on May 15th. Until then, take a look at the full plot synopsis and details below:
