Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi is the latest animated venture from Lucasfilm on Disney+, and here is everything we know so far about the newest Star Wars show. Tales of the Jedi was announced at 2022's Star Wars Celebration in Anaheim. Those in attendance got to see a trailer for the new show that is yet to be released online and one of the show's planned six episodes.

Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi comes from the mind of Star Wars animation veteran and George Lucas' protégé Dave Filoni, with Filoni and Charles Murray, Filoni's frequent Star Wars: The Clone Wars collaborator, providing the writing for each episode. Filoni has been an integral part of Star Wars since he was hired to create The Clone Wars back in 2008. Since then, he has worked on projects such as Star Wars: RebelsThe Clone Wars season 7, and more recently, The Bad Batch, The Mandalorian, and The Book of Boba Fett.

With his latest venture, though, Filoni will delve back into animation with Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi. This show will be different from Filoni's recent endeavors, however. Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi will be an anthology, similar to his early days working on The Clone Wars, differing from the overarching stories of Star Wars: Rebels and The Bad Batch. Here's everything we know about Star Wars: Tales of the Jedso far.

Star Wars: Tales Of The Jedi's Returning Star Wars Cast & Characters

One of the main things that was announced at the Star Wars Celebration panel for Tales of the Jedi, was the cast and characters of the show. The show will consist of six episodes, with two central characters being the focus in three each. The main Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi characters are Ahsoka Tano, and Count Dooku before his fall to the dark side. Ahsoka will be voiced by Ashley Eckstein, who also was also the voice actor for the character throughout The Clone Wars and Star Wars: Rebels. While it wasn't announced who would voice Count Dooku, it is safe to assume that Cory Burton will likely reprise his role from The Clone Wars also. Another announcement was that Dooku's padawan, none other than Qui-Gon Jinn, would be returning - once again voiced by Liam Neeson with help from his son Micheál, depending on the time period. Janina Gavankar of Star Wars Battlefront II fame was also confirmed to appear as Ahsoka Tano's mother.

Star Wars: Tales Of The Jedi Story Details

The Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi story will likely differ from episode to episode, as it is an anthology series. One of Ahsoka's episodes was confirmed to be about her birth and early life with her mother on her home planet of Shili. While the plots of the other episodes for Ahsoka aren't confirmed, it was revealed they would feature Ahsoka's time in the Clone Wars, and a battle with one of the Empire's Inquisitors, as opposed to the Sith, after Order 66. With Dooku, the main story focus for him will be on his time as a Jedi. Dooku was introduced in the prequel trilogy as a Sith Lord, with his Jedi backstory told and not shown. With Tales of the Jedi, audiences will see Dooku before his fall to the dark side, and his time with his padawan Qui-Gon Jinn.

With 2022 featuring a lot of Star Wars releases, from Obi-Wan Kenobi to The Bad Batch season 2 and Andor, a Tales of the Jedi release date hasn't officially been set. However, it was announced at the panel that it will be released sometime in Fall 2022. With The Bad Batch season 2 being given the same release window, predictions can be made on the show's release. As the latter has already had a trailer released, it is safe to assume The Bad Batch will release sometime in early-Fall, around September. From this Star Wars release plan, it can be assumed Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi will likely release in November. An official release date should come from Disney soon enough, as more details and likely a small trailer are revealed about their newest animated venture, Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi.
