Star Wars Legends has had some of the coolest characters in the entire franchise from the likes of Thrawn, Revan and Mara Jade. Starting in 1978 with the novel Splinter of the Mind's Eye, the expanded universe of Star Wars was created to make more stories in the form of books and more.

After Disney separated the expanded universe from the rest of the canon in 2013, many part of Legends lore have since carried over into the new official canon, including planets, characters, locations, events and more.

Jabiim

Kenobi's Jabiim Reference Sets Up Obi-Wan & Anakin's Best Missing Battle Featured

Introduced in the Star Wars Republic comic by Dark Horso, Jabiim was the location of a massive battle in the Clone Wars. The Republic fough against a huge army lead by Jabiim nationalists and Separatists.

The planet made an unexpected return in the Obi-Wan Kenobi series as Obi-Wan finds himself in an old base formerly owned by the Republic. Perhaps this little easter egg could point to the battle becoming canon once again.

Teräs Käsi

Based one of the lesser-known Star Wars games, Masters of Teräs Käsi, the martial art was brought back into canon in 2018's Solo as Qi'Ra is a practitioner of it, having been trained by Dryden Vos who in turn secretly learned from Darth Maul.

While the game it originates from has been widely criticized over the years, a modern Star Wars fighting game could be very promising as one fan on YouTube seems to have cracked the code.

Tierfon Yellow Aces

Starting as a young woman stranded on Jakku, Rey has gone on quite the journey over the course of the sequel trilogy. In The Force Awakens, while Rey is hanging out at her AT-AT home, she puts on an old Rebel Alliance helmet which has a distinct yellow insignia.

The symbol matches that of the Tierfon Yellow Aces Squadron, a training team that would send Rebels on low-danger missions to get more experience for when it will really come in handy in battle.

Jaxxon

Jaxxon in Star Wars

Jaxxon is a very strange alien coming from Legends that even George Lucas wasn't too fond of. The creator of the character, Roy Thomas, wrote in Alter Ego magazine, "George particularly disliked one of the Seven being a six-foot alien who resembled a green Bugs Bunny in space gear. I had figured my 'green rabbit' Jaxxon wasn’t really much weirder than a Wookiee, but obviously George, as the creator of the Star Wars mythos, felt differently."

Though Jaxxon's appearance is overly cartoonish, he totally fits in the Star Wars galaxy. Considering creatures like Ewoks and Jar Jar Binks exist, it's not too far-fetched for a green Rabbit to be roaming around as well.

Life Day

Life Day was Star Wars' in-universe answer to Christmas. First appearing in the very-hated The Star Wars Holiday Special, the holiday was a very important celebration for Wookiees. The holiday made its return to canon after the official Star Wars site created a databank entry for it.

Since its return, the holiday has appeared or been mentioned in more than a dozen projects including The Mandalorian. Despite publicly condemning the special, the celebration of Life Day represents values very important to Lucas about compassion, family and joy.

Beilert Valance

Star Wars Bounty Hunter Beilert Valance

An extremely obscure character from the Marvel Comics of the late 70s, Beilert Valance was a bounty hunter best known for his distinct facial appearance where half his face was replaced by Terminator-eque cybernetics.

Like his Legends counterpart, Valance began as an Imperial who later received cybernetics due to severe injuries. During his time in the Empire, he even came face to face with a young soldier named Han Solo. As one of the coolest characters from Legends, it's great to see lesser-known ones receiving recognition.

The Outrider

Dash Renda with his hands on his hips in Star Wars

A very random background addition to the Special Edition of A New Hope, George Lucas made the decision to include it following the popularity from Shadows of the Empire, where the ship appears. The Outrider was smuggler Dash Rendar's signature ship.

While Rendar has yet to officially appear in-person in any canon projects, he was mentioned in the book Solo: A Star Wars Story - Tales from Vandor, thus making him canon again.

Durge

Durge On A Speeder In Clone Wars

A fan-favorite character from the 2003 Clone Wars series, Durge's return into canon was extremely unexpected as he made his first appearance in the current run of Doctor Aphra comics. What makes the return feel so random is the fact that he's still at large during the original trilogy.

He also speaks which is very uncharacteristic for him as he was previously portrayed as a mute, lone gunfighter who didn't have much respect for authority. While his appearance was brief, hopefully he can be fleshed out further and interact with characters from the prequel era.

Mimban

Mimban Stormtrooper

Introduced as the jungle planet in Alan Dean Foster's Splinter of the Mind's Eye, Mimban had major changes by the time it was reintroduced into canon. After being mentioned in The Clone Wars episode "Rookies", Mimban made its full-fledged return in Solo.

Rather than having dense forests, Mimban was reimagined as a swamp planet as writer Jon Kasdan felt "We wanted Mimban to evoke Kubrick's Paths of Glory and put Han into the most hellish possible war environment" (via Twitter).

Revan

Star Wars Old Republic Jedi

Easily one of the most important characters from Legends, Revan originated from the Knights of the Old Republic, a story many fans want to see adapted in Star Wars canon. After being relegated to Legends, it wasn't until the release of The Rise of Skywalker that Revan would become canon again.

Included in a subtle and unexpected way, the different legions of Sith Troopers were identified with the name of an ancient Sith Lord. Other famous Sith reintegrated included Tenebrous, Plagueis' master and Andeddu, the first Sith to bear the 'Darth' title.
