Star Wars is celebrating May the 4th early, with a poster highlighting all three trilogies in the Skywalker saga. The saga began with the original trilogy, back in the late '70s and early '80s. After a 16 year break, it returned with the prequel films, which some Star Wars fans believe to be the weakest in the saga. However, it didn't stop Lucasfilm from completing the movie series with the sequel trilogy, beginning with Star Wars: The Force Awakens in 2015. The sequel trilogy is also fairly divisive among Star Wars fans, particularly the last two films.

Some saw Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, which just released December 2019, as a satisfying end to the Skywalker saga. Others felt it was a disappointment. Luckily, The Rise of Skywalker is far from the last Star Wars movie. Various features are in the works, though it will likely be awhile until any make it to the big screen. Following the conclusion of the Skywalker saga, Disney and Lucasfilm are committed to focusing on the TV side of the Star Wars universe, including working on shows for Disney+. It helps that the companies found immense success with The Mandalorian last year, Star Wars' very first live-action show.

In celebration of the upcoming Star Wars holiday May the 4th, the official Star Wars Twitter account shared a new poster blending all three trilogies in the Skywalker saga. On May the 4th, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker will release on Disney+, meaning fans will be able to watch the entire saga in one place for the first time. The poster also mentions that detail. Originally, The Rise of Skywalker was supposed to debut on the streamer later this summer. However, earlier this week, Disney+ announced it was releasing the film early. Check out the Skywalker saga poster below:

Though the Skywalker saga may be over, the current and upcoming Disney+ Star Wars shows are something for fans to look forward to. For example, The Mandalorian season 2 hasn't even released yet, however creatives are already hard at work on season 3. There is also an Obi-Wan Kenobi show with Ewan McGregor currently in development, as well as a Rogue One: A Star Wars Story series featuring Cassian Andor. Fans were also excited to hear about a female-led Star Wars show last week, which, like the others, is in the works for Disney+.

The new Skywalker saga poster is noteworthy because it celebrates all three trilogies together. Star Wars has always been a franchise that excels at merging the old and the new. The sequel trilogy, for example, took care to honor the original trilogy with roles for Luke, Leia, and Han. This May the 4th could be one of the best Star Wars holidays yet, as fans can finally watch the Skywalker saga all in one place.
