A new TV spot for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker offers a clear look at the redesign of the Skywalker lightsaber. Having been destroyed during Star Wars: The Last Jedi, the famous lightsaber has been remade for The Rise of Skywalker where it will again be wielded by Rey.

Recent weeks have seen a steady influx of new images and footage from Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker ahead of the film's December release. The marketing has been preparing fans for the end of the Skywalker Saga, of which this particular lightsaber has played an important role. Originally wielded by Anakin Skywalker in the prequel films, it was handed down to his son, Luke, by Obi-Wan Kenobi in Star Wars: A New Hope. In the sequel trilogy that began with Star Wars: The Force Awakens, the lightsaber is now in the possession of Rey after it came to her hand and not Kylo Ren's in that film's climactic lightsaber duel.

In this latest Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker TV spot, there's a mix of new and previously seen footage. Most notable is the inclusion of a clip in where Leia is seen holding the reforged Skywalker lightsaber. Judging by her forest surroundings, this moment comes from the same scene of Leia and Rey embracing that's been used in previous trailers. Check out the latest Rise of Skywalker teaser, below:

This TV spot isn't the first time we've seen the repaired Skywalker lightsaber, but it combined with that earlier look gives a better understanding of just how it has been remade. As you can see, the two halves of the lightsaber have been bonded back together and are now held in place by a black band. The band travels completely around the saber and meets in the middle with a hexagon shape. Otherwise, the lighstaber looks largely the same as it did before Rey and Kylo ripped it to pieces.

Along with the Skywalker lightsaber, this Rise of Skywalker TV spot includes a new shot of Kylo Ren and his Knights of Ren marching down the hallway of a First Order vessel or base. There's also a new line spoken by Emperor Palpatine, "Let the final battle begin," heard just as the teaser concludes. The return of the Emperor is both the most exciting reveal and the biggest mystery of The Rise of Skywalker, and the marketing has done well to regularly include him while steering clear of actually showing him. Additionally, by cutting these scenes with those of the brave Resistance fighters, this teaser just hammers home how big of a final battle Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker has in store.
