A new Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker TV spot and poster show Rey (Daisy Ridley) and Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) facing off against each other. With only a few weeks to go before the film's release, marketing has kicked into high gear, and fans have been treated to several Rise of Skywalker TV spots and posters teasing the story. The highly anticipated film marks the end of the Skywalker Saga as the Star Wars franchise heads in a new direction.

One of the most hotly debated duos in the sequel trilogy is Rey and Kylo Ren. Their introductions in 2015's Star Wars: The Force Awakens led to the creation of the ship "Reylo," with some fans hoping for a romantic relationship between the two. Then 2017's Star Wars: The Last Jedi inched the two towards a potential alliance, but that ended when Kylo chose the Dark Side once again and became the First Order's Supreme Leader. The last time the two characters saw each other, Rey shut the door to the Millennium Falcon on him. So far, the promotional images for The Rise of Skywalker suggest the two will continue to be at odds.

First, a new exclusive poster shared by the official Star Wars Instagram depicts Rey and Kylo facing each other atop the Death Star wreckage, lightsabers drawn. This fight has already been hinted at in other promos, further suggesting it will be a pivotal moment. The new TV spot also features footage of it, as well as a better glimpse of the scene with Rey and Kylo Ren in the room with Darth Vader's mangled helmet. Whereas before, it might have looked like they were working together, now it's clear they are fighting, with Rey stepping forward to strike him while Palpatine (Ian McDiarmid) is heard saying, "Let the final battle begin." Check both out below.

The Rise of Skywalker has a difficult task ahead of itself. After The Last Jedi, some fans soured on the franchise and began to doubt whether Disney was handling it properly. The Rise of Skywalker has to win over those who are uncertain about the sequel trilogy and bring the Skywalker Saga to a satisfying end. It's still too early to know exactly how the film will perform. So far it is tracking lower than the previous installments, but could certainly exceed those projections.

Rey and Kylo Ren's relationship has been the subject of a great deal of speculation over the last few years, with some supporting it and others criticizing it. Ridley promised that The Rise of Skywalker delves into Rey and Kylo Ren's bond and even addresses it, though exactly how that will play out remains to be seen. As of right now, Rey and Kylo Ren are at odds, and the newest batch of promotional material continues to support that. Of course, when it comes to Star Wars, nothing is ever certain until the movie is on the big screen. The two of them just might end up working together again in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.
