Leia Organa is one of the most iconic figures to come out of the Star Wars franchise, and according to Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, she could have been one of the strongest Jedi to ever live. After starring in George Lucas' original trilogy, Carrie Fisher reprised her role as the former Princess of Alderaan for the sequel film series. As the daughter of Darth Vader, Leia possessed powerful connections to the Force just like her brother Luke Skywalker. As the franchise continued, viewers were given a glimpse into her abilities, but the movies only scratched the surface when it came to her time as a Jedi.

Due to her genetic link to the "Chosen One," Leia was left with a strong Force sense from a very young age. Her Force-sensitivity gave her "gut feelings" and the presence of certain emotions based on what was happening within the galaxy. Once Luke confirmed their familial connection after the Battle of Endor, the puzzle pieces started to come together. Through her powers, Leia was able to sense Han Solo's death in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, as well as Luke's death in Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

With her sensitivity and manifestations through the Force, Leia was a perfect candidate for Jedi training. Through a flashback scene in The Rise of Skywalker, it was confirmed that Luke trained Leia to become a Jedi. Following the events of Return of the Jedi, the two siblings were shown dueling with lightsabers throughout a wooded area. Leia was able to go toe-to-toe with Luke, proving that he trained her well. Before she could reach her full powers in becoming a Jedi Master, Leia laid down her lightsaber. It was revealed that she stopped training because she had a vision foretelling Ben Solo's death if she continued her path as a Jedi. If Leia hadn't stopped, it's very possible that she could have become as stronger, if not stronger, than her brother.

Leia Could Have Been As Strong As Luke If She Didn't Abandon Training

The Last Jedi Luke Leia

Other than her feelings and lightsaber training, Leia obtained a few other Force powers throughout her life. After her ship was obliterated in The Last Jedi, the character was left floating in space while close to death. With the use of her Force powers, Leia propelled herself back to her ship. Even though she didn't complete her Jedi training, Leia was able to preserve her consciousness after her death in order to become a Force ghost. These powers necessitate a ton of skill and training but they seemed to come naturally to Leia.

Leia gave up her Jedi training for her son, and instead, focused on her political career. She also stepped up as a vital leader of the Resistance. Yoda once described Leia as the other hope within the galaxy as far back as The Empire Strikes Back, and even wanted to train her instead of Luke. Like her twin brother, she had power and will, but she also had qualities that may have made her a better Jedi when compared to Luke. Leia didn't make rash decisions and she certainly wasn't obstinate. Her emotional control would have mixed well with her physical abilities as a Jedi.

Viewers probably would have seen Leia's full potential as a Jedi if Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker went with its original plan. Unfortunately, the film only had eight minutes of footage featuring Fisher due to her untimely death. Her role was supposed to be more physical in the final installment. Instead, Leia trained Rey on the Resistance base planet. Leia may have never been a Jedi Master but her legacy through the Force lives on with Rey.
